Today, the Chief Executive Officer of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, welcomed a delegation from the National Afcfta Coordination Office Ghana , led by the National Coordinator, Mr. Dode Seidu.

The CEO used the opportunity to introduce the Authority, its mandate and its role in developing and promoting Ghana’s six selected tree crops.

The meeting centred on building synergies to enhance the export of TCDA-regulated commodities, promote value addition and explore opportunities to improve the tree crop value chain, including addressing tariff barriers.

Dr. Okrah commended the collaboration, noting that strengthened cooperation among state institutions and agencies aligns with the broader national development objective of H.E. John Dramani Mahama to drive the Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda.

Today, the Chief Executive Officer of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, (Andy O Okrah) joined the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare alongside the President of the Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters - FAGE GHANA, Mr. Davies Narh Korboe, for the official opening of the 2026 Ghana Horticulture Expo. Held under the theme, “From Soil to Sovereignty: Building Ghana’s Agricultural Self-Reliance,”

In his remarks, Dr. Andy Osei Okrah emphasised the shared responsibility of industry stakeholders in building a stronger and more competitive agricultural sector.

He noted that the Ghana Horticulture Expo provides an important platform for connecting the various components of the agricultural economy and creating opportunities for collaboration, investment and market development.

The CEO reaffirmed TCDA’s readiness to work closely with FAGE, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Ghana EXIM Bank and other stakeholders to strengthen the linkages between production, investment, processing and markets.

According to CEO this strategy aligns perfectly with the broader national development agenda of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to accelerate the Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda (AETA) to strengthen production and value addition to build self-reliance Agriculture industry.

TCDA has announced the approved producer prices for Oil Palm Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) and Raw Rubber Cup-Lumps for September 2026.

The monthly price announcement forms part of the Authority’s efforts to promote fair and transparent pricing, while ensuring that producer prices remain responsive to prevailing market conditions.

Through this initiative, TCDA seeks to protect the interests of producers, strengthen the Oil Palm and Rubber value chains, and support sustainable growth within Ghana’s tree crops industry.

The approved September 2026 producer prices, together with the relevant market parameters used in determining the prices, are provided in the attached artwork.

TCDA remains committed to working with farmers, industry players and other stakeholders to build a productive, sustainable and competitive tree crops sector for Ghana.

Today, the leadership of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), led by the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Andy Osei Okrah paid a courtesy visit to the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) at Tafo in the Eastern Region. The delegation was received by the Executive Director of CRIG, Dr. Kofi Owusu Domfeh

The visit was aimed at enabling TCDA gain a deeper understanding of the Institute’s research and development activities, from seedling production to value addition, particularly in relation to key tree crops under TCDA’s mandate, including cashew and shea which are also areas of research at CRIG.

During the engagement, the CEO highlighted the mandate of the Authority and outlined its strategic vision.

CRIG subsequently took the TCDA leadership through the Institute’s research progress in cashew and shea, with emphasis on developing disease-tolerant and disease-resistant varieties. Discussions also focused on efforts to address emerging diseases affecting cashew production, including powdery mildew. Farmer awareness and education were also key areas of discussion, alongside opportunities for collaboration, capacity building and emerging opportunities within the tree crop sector.

As part of the visit, the TCDA delegation embarked on a field tour of CRIG’s facilities, including its nursery. The CEO had the opportunity to interact with staff and observed activities including the grafting of cashew seedlings.

The visit provided an important platform for both institutions to explore areas for strengthened collaboration and partnerships in research and innovation.
