On Tuesday January 20th 2026, the Bono Regional Command, led by DCAEMT Alfred Amoah and supported by his deputy, DCAEMT Eric Mills, together with the regional education team, conducted a hands-on practical training session for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) at Berekum Municipality.

The joint training, which involved the Berekum East Municipal (Berekum) and Berekum West District (Jinijini), brought together EMTs from both stations, and YEA thus Community Medical First Responders (CMFRs), with facilitation provided by personnel from the regional education team.

A total of twenty five EMT’s and six YEA (CMFRs) participated in the training and were taken through the following practical modules:
1. Stipple chase equipment drills
2. Immobilization techniques
3. Patient assessment (medical and trauma)
4. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) usage
5. Ambulance familiarization and oxygen therapy

The training was necessitated by a prolonged hiatus in operational activities resulting from vehicle breakdown. In line with principles of managerial efficiency and effectiveness, the Regional Education Team delivered this refresher training to adequately prepare staff ahead of the recommissioning of the ambulance.

Capacity Building Training for Drivers and Station Managers – Bono Region
Tuesday 11th – Thursday 13th November, 2025

From Tuesday, 11th to Thursday, 13th November 2025, the Bono Regional Management Team, led by DCAEMT Alfred K. Amoah and his Deputy, DCAEMT Eric Mills, organized a three-day capacity-building training programme for drivers and station managers across the Bono region.
Day 1 & 2
On Tuesday, 11th and Wednesday, 12th November 2025, training sessions were held for seventy-five (75) EMT drivers drawn from all fourteen (14) stations in the region. The sessions featured facilitators from the National Road Safety Authority, the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), and a representative from the NAS Engineering and Servicing Department Kumasi.
Participants were taken through five key modules:
Road Traffic Regulations
Upholding Public Safety
Ensuring Effective Vehicle Maintenance
Minimizing the Risk of Road Crashes
Maintaining the regional fleet avoiding further damages
This training aims to enhance efficiency and operational effectiveness within the region National Ambulance Service (NAS) and to ensure the continuous and safe operation of its fleet system.

Day 3
On the third day, the region had the privilege of hosting a team from the NAS Headquarters, including the Internal auditor, Mr. Mohammed Muhaideen, and the deputy director of finance, Mr. Musah Seidu Suwiye.
They engaged with station managers, their deputies, and finance officers totalling forty-eight (48) to provide training in line with a compliance directive from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The directive mandates that, henceforth, General Counterfoil Receipt (GCR) receipts be issued to clients who make payments for inter-hospital referrals.
This initiative is expected to enhance transparency and accountability, thereby boosting public confidence in NAS operations.
Station managers were also taken through key areas related to financial compliance, public fund management.

On Friday the 5th of September 2025, the District Manager of the National Ambulance Service (NAS) in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region, SAEMT Gideon, along with his team, continued to conduct Basic Life Support (BLS) training session for forty seven (47) staff of Suma Rural Bank Sampa branch.

The training session focused on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

A life-saving skill that is invaluable both in the workers line of duty and the community at large.

Participants engaged in practical, hands-on exercises using manikins, providing them with meaningful, real-world experience and enhanced confidence in emergency response.

On Friday, 5th September 2025, the Bono Regional Education Team once again extended its outreach, this time engaging our neighbours, Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL).
The training session brought together over forty staff members of GWCL, including the Regional Chief Manager, Mr. Theophilus T. Collins, and the Head of Human Resource at the regional headquarters. Participants were taken through critical life-saving skills such as:
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Management of choking
• Bleeding control
• Management of bites, among others
The participants expressed great satisfaction with the training, noting its highly practical and hands-on approach, which enhanced their psychomotor skills and confidence in emergency response.

On June 26, 2025 thirty-seven (37) teachers from the Methodist school in the Sunyani West municipality undertook training across four (4) skill centres, namely Ambulance familiarization, choking and convulsion (seizure) bleeding control and CPR/AED usage. The training provided an overview of the ambulance and its equipment, techniques for identifying and managing choking and convulsive cases, methods of controlling bleeding including penetrative injuries and a hands on practice in administering CPR and using an Automated External Defibrillator AED. The objective was to equip the teachers with the necessary skills to respond effectively to medical emergencies in the school environment, as well as in their communities and homes before the arrival of the mainstream professional EMS.
