🌿 ALONE WITH JESUS 🌿

LIVING FROM ACCEPTANCE, NOT FOR ACCEPTANCE

GALATIANS 1:10
“For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.”

MESSAGE
One of the greatest struggles in life is the desire to be accepted, appreciated, and approved by others. While it is natural to desire healthy relationships, the problem begins when pleasing people becomes more important than pleasing God. We may compromise our convictions, hide our true feelings, or say yes when we should say no simply because we fear rejection. However, God never created you to spend your life earning from people what He freely offers you through His love. Romans 5:8 reminds us that God demonstrated His love for us while we were still sinners. His love is not a reward for perfect performance but a gift of grace received through Jesus Christ.

People will have different opinions about you. Some will appreciate you, while others may misunderstand or criticise you. If you measure your worth by their approval, your peace will constantly depend on how they treat you. Remember that people's opinions do not determine your identity or your value before God. Learn to receive wise correction without allowing criticism to define you. You cannot please everyone and remain faithful to every conviction. Galatians 1:10 challenges us to seek God's approval above human recognition. Remain humble, love others sincerely, and stand firm in your faith, even when obedience requires you to be different.

Learning to live in God's love also means establishing healthy boundaries and understanding that you cannot meet every person's expectations. You can say no respectfully without feeling guilty, serve others without neglecting your responsibilities, and love people without surrendering your convictions. Ephesians 1:4–5 reminds us of our identity in Christ and the privilege of being adopted into God's family. You do not need to compete with others, imitate their lives, or prove your worth through achievements. When you understand who you are in Christ, you become less dependent on people's approval to feel secure. Let God's Word shape your identity, and allow His love to strengthen you against the fear of rejection.

Finally, make it your priority to live to please God rather than impress people. Colossians 3:23 teaches us to do everything wholeheartedly as unto the Lord and not unto men. Serve faithfully even when nobody applauds, do what is right even when it is unpopular, and remain obedient even when others disagree with you. God's love does not guarantee that everyone will accept you, but it assures you that your worth is not determined by universal approval. Spend time with Jesus, surrender your insecurities to Him, and allow His truth to guide your decisions. You are free to love people without being controlled by their opinions because your deepest security, identity, and acceptance are found in Christ.

MEDITATIONS
♦ In what areas am I seeking people's approval over God's?

♦ Have I compromised my convictions or boundaries out of fear of rejection?

♦ What does God's Word say about my identity and worth in Christ?

♦ What step can I take today to live confidently in God's love?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unfailing love. Forgive me for seeking people's approval above Yours. Deliver me from the fear of rejection and help me find my identity in Christ.

Give me courage to stand firm in my convictions, wisdom to maintain healthy boundaries, and grace to love others without depending on their approval. Teach me to live for Your pleasure and walk confidently in Your truth.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

SALVATION MESSAGE
Perhaps you have spent years seeking acceptance, hiding your struggles, or allowing rejection to make you feel unworthy of love. But God invites you to come to Him through Jesus Christ.

Salvation is God's gift of grace, received through repentance and faith in Jesus, who died for our sins and rose again to give us new life.

Today, surrender your fear of rejection, receive God's love, and begin living confidently in your identity in Christ. You no longer have to live for people's approval when your worth is found in Him.

SALVATION PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I acknowledge my need for You. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. Forgive me, cleanse me, and be my Lord and Saviour. Help me find my identity in Your love, overcome the fear of rejection, and live to please You above all else. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and guide me in Your truth. From today, I choose to follow You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

🌿 ALONE WITH JESUS 🌿

OVERCOMING ANGER

EPHESIANS 4:26–27

“Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.”

MESSAGE
Anger is a natural emotion that can arise when we feel hurt, rejected, disappointed, or treated unfairly. However, the problem is not simply experiencing anger but allowing it to control our words, actions, and decisions. When left unchecked, anger can damage relationships and grow into bitterness, resentment, and a desire for revenge. Overcoming anger begins with recognizing what triggers it and honestly examining what lies beneath it.

James 1:19–20 teaches us to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger. Instead of reacting impulsively when provoked, learn to pause, breathe, and think before responding. Proverbs 15:1 reminds us that a gentle answer can turn away wrath. We can express our feelings, correct wrongdoing, and establish boundaries without insulting, threatening, or hurting others with our words.

We must also guard our hearts against bitterness and learn to forgive. Ephesians 4:31–32 calls us to put away bitterness, wrath, and malice, choosing kindness and forgiveness instead. Forgiveness does not mean excusing wrongdoing or tolerating abuse; it means refusing to allow hatred and revenge to govern our hearts. Through prayer, God's Word, and the help of the Holy Spirit, we can develop patience, gentleness, and self-control.

Jesus is our example of responding with wisdom and grace, even in the face of opposition and injustice. As we grow in Christ, we learn that we do not have to let another person's behaviour determine our character. When anger rises, ask yourself, “Will my response honour God, bring understanding, and reflect the character of Christ?” The goal is not merely to become less angry, but to allow God to transform our hearts so that our words and actions increasingly reflect Jesus.

MEDITATIONS
♦ What triggers my anger?

♦ Am I holding on to bitterness or resentment?

♦ How can I respond calmly when provoked?

♦ How can the Holy Spirit help me develop self-control?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help me overcome anger and control my emotions. Forgive me for the times I have spoken or acted harshly. Holy Spirit, teach me to be patient, gentle, and slow to anger. Help me release bitterness, forgive others, and respond with wisdom and self-control. Transform my heart to reflect the character of Jesus. In Jesus’ name, Amen..

SALVATION MESSAGE
Perhaps anger has caused you to hurt others, damage relationships, or struggle with bitterness. Despite your efforts, you may find yourself repeating the same patterns.

Jesus invites you to come to Him. Through faith in Him, you can receive forgiveness and begin a new life. Surrender your heart to Christ and allow His Word and Spirit to transform your character.

You do not have to remain trapped in your past. Today is an opportunity to begin again with Jesus.

SALVATION PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, I believe You died for my sins and rose again. Forgive me, cleanse me, and be my Lord and Saviour. Transform my heart, renew my mind, and help me overcome anger, bitterness, and unforgiveness. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and teach me to walk in patience, love, and self-control. From today, I surrender my life to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

🤝CONGRATULATIONS!
YOU ARE BORN AGAIN.

🌿 ALONE WITH JESUS 🌿

THE WAY OF ESCAPE

1 CORINTHIANS 10:12–13

“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

MESSAGE
Temptation is one of the realities every believer must learn to recognize and confront. It does not always appear as something obviously evil; sometimes, it comes disguised as pleasure, comfort, opportunity, or a seemingly harmless compromise. You may genuinely love God and still experience desires that challenge your commitment to Him. However, being tempted is not the same as yielding to temptation. The danger is entertaining temptation carelessly until it weakens your convictions and leads you into sin.

Temptation often begins with small compromises, unhealthy desires, or thoughts we repeatedly entertain. James 1:14–15 explains how desire can lead to sin when it is allowed to grow. Therefore, recognize your areas of vulnerability and pay attention to situations that weaken your spiritual discipline. Do not confuse desire with permission or assume that because something feels good, it is right. What you tolerate today may become a struggle tomorrow.

Although temptation is powerful, you do not have to surrender to it. First Corinthians 10:13 reminds us of God's faithfulness and His provision of a way to endure temptation. Like Jesus, who resisted the devil's temptations with the truth of God's Word, we must learn to depend on Scripture, prayer, and the Holy Spirit. Sometimes, victory requires walking away, establishing boundaries, avoiding harmful influences, or seeking accountability. Do not keep opening the door to what you are praying to overcome.

If you have fallen into temptation, do not allow shame to keep you away from God. First John 1:9 reminds us that God is faithful to forgive and cleanse us when we confess our sins. Repent, receive His forgiveness, learn from your mistakes, and take practical steps to avoid repeating them. Strengthen your spiritual life through consistent prayer, Bible study, and fellowship with godly believers. Victory over temptation begins with recognizing its power, depending on God's strength, and choosing obedience one decision at a time.
MEDITATIONS
♦ What temptations challenge my commitment to God?

♦ Am I ignoring small compromises that could lead to sin?

♦ What boundaries can help me resist temptation?

♦ How can I seek God's forgiveness and begin again when I fall?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help me recognize and resist temptation. Strengthen me to choose obedience over sin and establish boundaries that honour You. When I fall, lead me to repentance and restore my strength. Help me grow in holiness and self-control.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

SALVATION MESSAGE
Perhaps you are tired of struggling with temptation and feel ashamed or distant from God. Jesus invites you to come to Him. Through His death and resurrection, He offers forgiveness and new life to all who repent and believe. You do not have to overcome every struggle first. Surrender your life to Jesus today and begin your journey of transformation.

SALVATION PRAYER
Lord Jesus, forgive me and make me new. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I surrender my life to You as my Lord and Saviour. Strengthen me to resist temptation, walk in obedience, and grow in holiness and self-control. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me follow You faithfully. In Jesus’ name, Amen..

🌿 ALONE WITH JESUS 🌿

MAKING ROOM FOR GOD

1 TIMOTHY 4:7
“But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.”

*MESSAGE*
Spiritual growth does not happen by accident; it requires consistent prayer, meditation on God’s Word, worship, and obedience. Just as the body needs exercise to grow stronger, our spiritual lives need regular nourishment. Do not allow your feelings to determine your commitment to God. Even when you feel tired or unmotivated, remain intentional about spending time in His presence.

Make prayer and Bible study daily priorities. Prayer helps you develop intimacy with God, while His Word provides wisdom, direction, and understanding. Psalm 119:105 declares, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Set aside time to pray, read Scripture, meditate on its truth, and apply what you learn. The goal is not merely to complete a routine but to allow God's Word to transform your life.

Guard your time with God against distractions. Social media, entertainment, and daily responsibilities can gradually steal the time meant for fellowship with Him. Establish practical boundaries and create a consistent routine. Even when prayer feels difficult or you do not experience strong emotions, remain faithful. Spiritual maturity means trusting God beyond your feelings and continuing to pursue Him through every season.

Depend on the Holy Spirit to strengthen your spiritual discipline. Start with small, realistic habits and build consistency through daily commitment. When you stumble, do not allow guilt to keep you away from God; return to Him and receive His grace. Remember, spiritual discipline is not about earning God's love but growing deeper in your relationship with Jesus. Consistency builds the habit, but dependence on the Holy Spirit sustains your growth..

MEDITATIONS
♦ Have I allowed busyness or distractions to weaken my prayer life?

♦ What spiritual habits do I need to establish or restore?

♦ Am I pursuing God consistently, or only when I feel motivated?

♦ What practical changes can I make to strengthen my daily walk with Jesus?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, give me a deeper hunger for Your presence and Your Word. Teach me to be disciplined in prayer, consistent in Scripture, and faithful in obedience. Help me overcome distractions, laziness, and spiritual complacency. Holy Spirit, strengthen me when I feel weak and help me develop habits that draw me closer to Jesus. May my spiritual life be rooted in love, faith, and daily fellowship with You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

SALVATION MESSAGE
Perhaps your prayer life has weakened, your Bible has remained closed, or the distractions of life have gradually taken God's place in your daily routine.
Today, God is inviting you to draw near to Him again.

Spiritual discipline begins with a surrendered heart. Through Jesus Christ, you can receive forgiveness, new life, and the grace to grow in your relationship with God.

If you have never surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, you can come to Him today.

SALVATION PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I need You. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. Please forgive me, cleanse me, and make me new. I surrender my life to You and receive You as my Lord and Saviour. Give me a hunger for Your Word, a consistent prayer life, and a heart that desires to obey You. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me grow in spiritual discipline and godliness. From today, I choose to follow You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

🌿 ALONE WITH JESUS 🌿

TUESDAY, 13 OCTOBER 2026

GUARDING YOUR LIFE

PROVERBS 25:28
“He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.”

MESSAGE
In ancient times, a city without walls was vulnerable to enemy attacks. Similarly, a life without self-control becomes vulnerable to destructive habits, uncontrolled emotions, harmful influences, and sinful desires. Proverbs 25:28 compares a person without self-control to a city with broken walls. Self-control is not a prison that limits your freedom; it is a wall that protects your peace, character, relationships, testimony, and spiritual growth. Learn to say no to harmful desires and ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen your discipline.

Just as a city controls access through its gates, you must guard what enters your heart and mind. The conversations you entertain, the content you consume, the relationships you maintain, and the thoughts you dwell on can influence your character. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Not everything that attracts your attention deserves access to your life. Exercise discernment and choose influences that strengthen your faith and draw you closer to God.

Establish godly boundaries to protect your spiritual, emotional, and moral well-being. You may need to distance yourself from destructive habits, decline harmful invitations, or limit unhealthy influences. Remember, not every opportunity is beneficial, and not every relationship should have unrestricted access to your life. However, building walls is not enough if you allow them to remain broken. Neglecting prayer, Scripture, accountability, and discipline can weaken your defences. When you stumble, return to God, receive His grace, and rebuild what has been damaged (Ephesians 4:27).

Finally, remember that self-control is part of the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23). You cannot depend on willpower alone; you need God's help to resist temptation and choose what pleases Him. Pray daily, meditate on His Word, practise obedience, and seek wise accountability. Your responsibility is to guard your life, but your dependence must remain on God. The goal is not to build walls out of fear but to develop a life of wisdom, discipline, and spiritual maturity.

MEDITATIONS

♦ Which areas of my life are most vulnerable because of a lack of self-control?

♦ What habits, relationships, or influences are weakening my spiritual defences?

♦ What godly boundaries do I need to establish or strengthen?

♦ How can I depend more on the Holy Spirit to guard my heart and direct my decisions?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help me guard my heart, discipline my desires, and establish godly boundaries. Show me where my walls are broken and give me the grace to rebuild them.

Holy Spirit, strengthen me to resist temptation, practise self-control, and remain faithful to Your Word. Protect my life and keep me useful for Your purpose.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

SALVATION MESSAGE
Perhaps your spiritual walls have been broken by sinful habits or choices that have drawn you away from God. There is hope in Jesus Christ. He offers forgiveness, a new beginning, and the power to change.

You do not have to remain a prisoner of your past. Surrender your life to Jesus today and allow Him to restore you and strengthen you to walk in His ways.

SALVATION PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I acknowledge my need for You. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. Forgive me, cleanse me, and make me new. I surrender my life to You as my Lord and Saviour. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, help me develop self-control, and strengthen me to walk in obedience to Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

🌿 ALONE WITH JESUS 🌿

RESPONDING INSTEAD OF REACTING

JAMES 1:19–20
“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.”

MESSAGE
Life will present moments when people disappoint us, words hurt us, plans fail, and situations test our patience. In such moments, our first instinct may be to react with anger, speak harshly, or make decisions out of frustration. However, as followers of Christ, we are called to exercise self-control rather than allow our emotions to dictate our behaviour. Proverbs 16:32 teaches that being slow to anger and ruling our spirit are marks of strength. Although we cannot always control what happens to us, we can learn to choose how we respond. Our emotions are real, but they should not determine our actions.

One of the wisest ways to handle difficult situations is to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry, as James 1:19 teaches. Many conflicts become worse because we respond before understanding the situation fully. We assume the worst, take correction as an attack, or speak without considering the consequences of our words. Proverbs 15:1 reminds us that a gentle answer can turn away anger, while harsh words stir up conflict. Therefore, learn to pause before speaking, listen carefully, and choose your words wisely. You can be honest without being cruel, correct someone without humiliating them, and disagree without becoming disrespectful.

As Christians, our responses should be guided by God's Word rather than temporary feelings. When anger encourages revenge, God's Word calls us to overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21). This does not mean tolerating abuse or allowing others to harm us; wisdom sometimes requires firm boundaries, speaking the truth, or walking away from an unhealthy situation. Remember, not every accusation deserves an answer, and not every argument requires your participation. Self-control is part of the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23), and it grows as we allow God to shape our character. When you fail, acknowledge your mistake, apologise where necessary, and learn to respond better next time.

Ultimately, responding instead of reacting is more than a communication skill; it is evidence of spiritual maturity. Jesus faced insults, rejection, and false accusations, yet He did not retaliate with insults but entrusted Himself to God, who judges justly (1 Peter 2:23). His example reminds us that we do not have to allow the behaviour of others to determine our character. You can encounter hostility without becoming hostile, experience disappointment without becoming bitter, and face criticism without losing your peace. Before you speak or act, ask yourself, “Does this response honour God, reflect wisdom, and demonstrate the character of Christ?” Choose to pause, pray, and respond with wisdom, remembering that you may not control every situation, but with God's help, you can learn to control how you respond.

MEDITATIONS
♦️What situations trigger my anger or impulsive reactions?

♦️Have I hurt others through careless words or actions?

♦️How can I pause and think before responding?

♦️ How can I let God's Word and the Holy Spirit guide my responses this week?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help me to be slow to anger, quick to listen, and wise with my words. Give me patience, humility, and self-control to respond according to Your Word. Holy Spirit, transform my character and help me reflect Christ in difficult moments. May my words and actions honour You and bring peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

SALVATION MESSAGE
Perhaps anger, impulsiveness, or past hurts have shaped your responses. Jesus offers you more than behaviour change; He offers a transformed heart through a relationship with Him. You do not have to remain trapped in destructive patterns. Through faith and the Holy Spirit, you can grow in wisdom and self-control. If you have never surrendered your life to Jesus, you can come to Him today.

SALVATION PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, I believe You died for my sins and rose again. Forgive me, cleanse me, and be my Lord and Saviour. Transform my heart, renew my mind, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Help me live according to Your Word and respond with wisdom, patience, love, and self-control. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

🌿 ALONE WITH JESUS 🌿

CONTROLLING DESTRUCTIVE THOUGHTS

2 CORINTHIANS 10:4–5
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

MESSAGE
Our minds are constantly filled with thoughts. Some strengthen our faith and encourage us to move forward, while others produce fear, shame, anger, discouragement, and hopelessness. We may find ourselves replaying past mistakes, imagining the worst, comparing ourselves with others, or believing that we will never overcome our struggles. However, not every thought that enters your mind deserves your agreement. You may not always control the first thought that comes, but you can learn to recognize it, examine it, and choose how to respond. Recognizing destructive thoughts is the first step toward overcoming their influence.

One of the greatest mistakes we can make is assuming that because a thought feels real, it must be true. Feeling rejected does not mean you are worthless, and experiencing fear does not mean disaster is inevitable. Romans 12:2 teaches us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, while 2 Corinthians 10:5 encourages us to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. This means examining our thoughts in the light of God's Word rather than allowing fear, false beliefs, or painful experiences to control our decisions. When your mind tells you that there is no hope, remind yourself of God's faithfulness and focus on the next wise step you can take.

Overcoming destructive thoughts also requires replacing unhealthy thinking patterns with truth. Philippians 4:8 encourages us to focus on whatever is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and worthy of praise. Instead of continually dwelling on failure, learn from your mistakes and give yourself room to grow. Guard your heart by being mindful of what you watch, hear, read, and entertain, as Proverbs 4:23 instructs. Spend time in Scripture, pray honestly about your struggles, and surround yourself with people who encourage wisdom and spiritual growth. When thoughts become persistent or overwhelming, do not hesitate to seek support from a trusted person, pastor, counselor, or qualified mental health professional. Seeking help is not a sign of weak faith.

Finally, remember that changing destructive thinking patterns is a process that requires patience, practice, and dependence on God. You may not overcome every negative thought in a single day, and you should not become discouraged when familiar thoughts return. Each time they arise, pause, examine them, and choose a healthier response. Philippians 4:6–7 reminds us to bring our anxieties to God through prayer and thanksgiving, trusting Him for the peace that guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Your goal is not to have a mind that never experiences negative thoughts, but to develop a mind that does not automatically surrender to them. Through God's truth, consistent practice, wise choices, and appropriate support, you can learn to respond to your thoughts in healthier and more life-giving ways.

MEDITATIONS

♦ What destructive thoughts have I been entertaining, and how have they been affecting my life?

♦ Am I treating my feelings and assumptions as facts, or am I examining them in the light of God's truth?

♦ What Scripture can I remember when fear, shame, discouragement, or hopelessness arises?

♦ What practical step can I take today to cultivate healthier thinking and seek support where necessary?

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word, which guides me into truth. Help me recognize destructive thoughts and refuse to accept every lie, fear, or negative assumption that enters my mind.

Renew my mind through Your Word. Teach me to think about what is true, pure, and pleasing to You. Give me wisdom to respond to difficult situations with faith rather than panic, humility rather than pride, and hope rather than despair.

When my thoughts overwhelm me, help me seek Your presence and the support I need. Give me courage to confront unhealthy patterns and grace to keep growing.

May my thoughts, attitudes, and decisions increasingly reflect the character of Christ.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

ALTAR CALL

Perhaps destructive thoughts have become a burden in your life. Maybe guilt over your past, fear of the future, or disappointment in yourself has left you feeling distant from God.

Jesus Christ invites you to come to Him.

You do not have to make yourself perfect before approaching Him. He calls you to repent, believe in Him, and receive the new life He offers.

Through Christ, you can begin a journey of spiritual renewal and learn to live according to God's truth.

If you have never surrendered your life to Jesus, you can begin today.

PRAY THIS PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I need You. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. Please forgive my sins and cleanse me from unrighteousness. I surrender my life to You and receive You as my Lord and Saviour. Renew my mind, guide my thoughts, and teach me to live according to Your Word. Help me grow in faith, truth, and obedience. From today, I choose to follow You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
