🧱 How to Calculate the Quantity of Blocks | Engineering Guide

Calculating the required number of concrete blocks before construction helps reduce material wastage, control costs, and improve project planning.

Step 1: Calculate Wall Area

Wall Length = 9.0 m

Wall Height = 2.8 m

Wall Area = Length × Height = 9.0 × 2.8 = 25.20 m²

Step 2: Calculate Opening Area

Door = 0.9 × 2.1 = 1.89 m²

Window = 1.2 × 1.2 = 1.44 m²

Total Opening Area = 3.33 m²

Step 3: Net Wall Area

Net Wall Area = 25.20 − 3.33 = 21.87 m²

Step 4: Calculate Block Face Area

Block Size (including mortar) = 500 × 275 mm

Block Face Area = 0.50 × 0.275 = 0.1375 m²

Step 5: Calculate Total Blocks

Total Blocks = Net Wall Area ÷ Block Face Area

21.87 ÷ 0.1375 ≈ 159 Blocks

> Note: The infographic contains a calculation error. It incorrectly lists the window area as 0.44 m² instead of the correct 1.44 m², which affects the final block quantity. Always verify calculations before estimating materials.
