FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 1st September 2026

PRESS RELEASE ON FUEL PRICES FOR SPETEMBER 2026

The Ministry of Petroleum, Energy and Mines wishes to inform the general public that the Government of The Gambia has approved the retail pump prices of petroleum products for the month of September, 2026 as follows:

• PMS (Petrol): D109.80 per litre
• AGO (Diesel): D120 per litre
• Kerosene: D112.64 per litre

The adjustment is driven primarily by the continued rise in international crude oil and refined petroleum product prices, largely influenced by the ongoing conflict and instability in the Middle East, a critical region for global energy supplies. The conflict has heightened uncertainty in international oil markets and increased concerns over disruptions to production, refining and the transportation of petroleum products.

As The Gambia relies heavily on imported petroleum products, developments in international markets have a direct impact on the cost of fuel in the country. The Government recognizes the burden that higher fuel prices may place on households, businesses and transport operators, the adjustment reflect prevailing international market conditions and ensure the continued availability of petroleum products.

The Government will continue to closely monitor developments in the international oil market and take appropriate measures in line with the established petroleum pricing framework.

The Ministry greatly appreciates the understanding and cooperation of the public and all stakeholders as the Government continues to respond to challenges in the global energy market.
The revised prices take effect from 1st September 2026.
