GFRS PARTICIPATES IN SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF SECURITY SECTOR MEL FRAMEWORK WORKSHOP
The Gambia Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS) joined other security institutions in the successful conclusion of a three-day Capacity Building Workshop on the Security Sector Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Framework, organized by the Office of National Security (ONS) with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The workshop, which concluded on 3rd June 2026 at the UN House in Cape Point, Bakau, focused on enhancing participants' knowledge and skills in monitoring, evaluation, data analysis, reporting, knowledge management, and institutional coordination within the security sector.
The final day featured practical sessions on Data Analysis and Reporting, as well as Knowledge Management and Learning Systems, providing participants with valuable opportunities to strengthen their monitoring and evaluation competencies through interactive discussions and group exercises.
Participants described the training as highly informative and impactful, expressing optimism about the planned development of a digital MEL dashboard that will improve reporting, coordination, and information sharing among security institutions. They also reaffirmed their commitment to serve as Trainers of Trainers (TOTs) by cascading the knowledge and skills acquired during the workshop within their respective organizations.
The workshop concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony conducted by representatives of the Office of National Security (ONS), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the consultant team, in recognition of participants' successful completion of the training.
This initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability, evidence-based decision-making, and the effective implementation of Security Sector Reform (SSR) programmes in The Gambia.
