Supporting grassroots football goes beyond the game; it is about investing in young people and their future.

Through the generosity of an anonymous philanthropist, Brace Foundation donated 2 footballs, a set of bibs, and a set of markers to the two finalist teams of the 2026 Wellingara Nawetan, both proudly representing the same football academy.

We are grateful for the trust placed in Brace Foundation to deliver this support. It is partnerships like these that help strengthen grassroots football and create more opportunities for young athletes.

We invite other philanthropists, organizations, and individuals who share our vision to partner with us in supporting grassroots football through donations, mentorship, and other meaningful initiatives.

MEET THE PRO (PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER) – BRACE FOUNDATION

Awa Touray is a journalism student at the University of The Gambia and holds an Advanced Diploma in Journalism and Communication from Media Academy for Journalism and Communication. She is a communications professional passionate about storytelling, advocacy, and youth empowerment.

She currently serves as a Digital Marketing and Communications Manager, leading content, branding, and engagement strategies across platforms. Her experience in journalism and digital media enables her to effectively shape narratives and connect with diverse audiences.

Awa has held leadership roles across youth, media, and tech spaces, including serving as Vice President of the MAJaC Students’ Union, reflecting her commitment to using communication as a tool for impact.

As Public Relations Officer, she will lead the foundation’s communication and visibility efforts, managing its public image and amplifying its mission to inspire and empower young people through sports.

MEET THE WELFARE OFFICER – BRACE FOUNDATION

Effie Abigail Mbowe is a dedicated and forward-thinking individual, passionate about building supportive and inclusive communities.

She is currently pursuing her studies at the university and has a background in journalism, further strengthening her communication and engagement skills.

With experience in administration and active involvement in church leadership, she brings strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities to the foundation. Her roles as a Personal Assistant and Secretary have shaped her ability to coordinate, support, and connect effectively with people.

Effie’s academic journey and commitment to service continue to influence her values of empathy, integrity, and compassion in everything she does.

As Welfare Officer, she will focus on promoting the well-being of members and participants, ensuring a supportive environment where young people feel valued, heard, and empowered.

Beyond her professional and leadership roles, Effie is passionate about acting, volunteering, and exploring new interests; bringing creativity and warmth into her work.

MEET THE PROGRAMS COORDINATOR – BRACE FOUNDATION

Kebba Bojang is a student, activist, and public speaker, known for his passion for youth development, leadership, and community impact.

He currently serves in multiple leadership roles, including Mister Tourism Gambia, Chairperson of the KEYCDA Children Committee, and Head of Parliament at Nusrat High School; where he actively leads initiatives focused on child development, advocacy, and civic engagement.

Kebba is also recognized for his work in promoting peace, unity, and positive masculinity, earning him the title of Mr Peace Ambassador 2025.

As Programs Coordinator, he will oversee the planning and implementation of the foundation’s initiatives, ensuring impactful programs that empower and support young people through sports and mentorship.

With a strong voice in advocacy and public speaking, he remains committed to inspiring change and shaping the next generation of leaders.

Ya Mama Gaye is a registered nurse, former sportsperson, and professional model, bringing a unique blend of discipline, compassion, and leadership to Brace Foundation.

With a background shaped by sports and community involvement, she is passionate about contributing to youth development and creating opportunities for growth.

As Treasurer, she will ensure transparency and accountability in the foundation’s finances, maintaining proper records and supporting responsible resource management.

Her experience as a nurse reflects her commitment to care and service, while her journey as a former athlete continues to influence her resilience and drive for impact.

Through her involvement in youth-led initiatives, she remains dedicated to working collaboratively toward a brighter future for young people.
