Daru Youth Association (DaYA) held its maiden executive meeting online on Tuesday, 8 January 2019. The meeting was, among other things, focused on key priorities, extending to diverse forms of development. What was even more striking about the meeting was the storming attendance of executive members who are all very committed to supporting the development blueprint of the association as well as rekindling ties with prominent businesses and stakeholders. Speaking on the issue of registering the association, the President said registering the association is a key priority he holds sacrosanct and that he will leave no stone unturned to get it registered. He pledged to voluntarily take the responsibility of registering the association upon himself.
Meanwhile, the President who doubled as the Chairperson of the convergence also opined that executive members of DaYA should submit a comprehensive report outlining their action plans for the fiscal year, 2019, while maintaining that all action plans be tendered on or before the 2nd of February, 2019. Similarly, the diasporians will, among themselves, select a representative who will relate to them matters discussed at every meeting.
In addition, the executive members primarily agreed upon an annual subscription dues of D300 to be levied on engaged persons (civil servants), but this decision was unequivocally reversed by a few members that the annual dues be elevated to D600; whereas, those in the village are charged only D60 as their annual contribution. On the other hand, the diasporians will, among themselves, discuss what they could offer for their contribution.
Finally, the leadership at the helm of affairs also postulated that the Secretary General, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, is responsible for drafting a proposal for the association
