CLARIFICATION ON THE IFMIS USAGE AT KANIFING MUNICIPAL COUNCIL

The Accountant General’s Department (AGD) wishes to provide clarification regarding recent comments made by Mayor Talib Bensouda on Coffee Time with Peter Gomez, in which he stated that the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) has not functioned for KMC over the past two years.

Contrary to this assertion, AGD confirms that KMC has been processing transactions through IFMIS. Our System Administrators have Queried the IFMIS and generated the following reports for KMC:

1. Cashbooks (Recurrent, Development, and Revenue)
2. General Ledger Report
3. Itemized Commitment and Expenditure Report
All these reports have been updated up to August 2026, clearly demonstrating that IFMIS is operational and in use at KMC.

This evidence suggests that the Mayor may not be fully apprised of the usage of the IFMIS at KMC, or that the supervision of the accounting function within KMC is not functioning effectively.

It is important to emphasize that Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) which are larger and more complex institutions are currently operating successfully with IFMIS. implementing entities are required to escalate any system related issues to AGD System Administrators through the established support structures.
