Last week, NSTCP Det Guam had the opportunity to recognize the outstanding performance of a few of our sailors during a site visit from our Commanding Officer, CAPT Brian Tanaka. Their achievements include:

FT2(SS) Roberto Mota selected as NSTCP Det Guam's Junior Sailor of the Quarter
TM1(SS) Craig Dunlap selected as NSTCP Det Guam's Instructor of the Quarter
STS1(SS) Rowdy Herber selected as NSTCP Det Guam's Sailor of the Year.

STS1 Herber also received his certification as a Master Training Specialist!

Fair winds and following seas, shipmates!

This month, NSTCP Det Guam said farewell to three of our instructors, MMNC Bradley Rumann, MMA1 Austin Moen, and FT1 Stephen Graham.

MMNC Rumann and FT1 Graham will be returning to the fleet to the USS Michigan (Gold) and PCU Utah.

MMA1 Moen, also recognized as the NSTCP det Guam Sailor of the Year for 2021, will be separating from the Navy to begin his civilian career in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Congratulations shipmates and thank you for all of your hard work at NSTCP det Guam!

In December, NSTCP Detachment Guam had the pleasure of hosting the US Navy Sea Cadet Corps Marianas Peredo Battalion. The Sea Cadets learned the basics of submarining in NSTCP Det Guam's ship's control team trainer, interactive bridge trainer, and firefighting trainer. It was a great opportunity for our staff to meet and interact with our future sailors! BZ to all who volunteered during the holiday period, and thank you to Bennett Spence for setting up the visit!

Today, Guam Area Ombudsmen were recognized and celebrated during an awards ceremony hosted by the U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG) Fleet and Family Support Center at the NBG Theater.

Congratulations on your reenlistment MMA1! Last week, Machinist's Mate Auxiliary 1st Class Jerid Taylor reenlisted at Tarzan Falls before receiving his end of tour award. Taylor was one of our best firefighting instructors and an important part of the command's success over the last two years. The Taylor family is transferring to Kings Bay, Georgia.

Today NSTCP, Det. Guam had the privilege of frocking Chief Electronics Technician (Navigation) Michael Levy to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.

Torpedoman's Mate 1st Class Jose Cancel was also presented with his end of tour award. Cancel, who is transferring to the USS Emory S Land (AS 39), stood up the command's equal opportunity program and facilitated various submarine trainers. A member of the team for more than three years, his hard work and dedication have been integral to the command's success.
