The Guyana Food Safety Authority (GFSA) is the national regulatory body responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and wholesomeness of food produced, imported, distributed, and sold within Guyana. The Guyana Food Safety Authority includes provisions for compliance with the International Phytosanitary Requirements for trade, Quarantine and Border Control, Hospitality and Food Services, Surveill

ance of Food-Borne Illnesses, Meat, Food and Agro Processing Inspections, Farm Certification, Crop Protection, Training and Risk Communication. Also, the Authority will introduce and reinforce cautionary and solution-oriented methods and stipulations that have been prescribed by international bodies such as World Health Organization, European Union and the Caribbean Agricultural Health and Food Safety Agency (CAHFSA).

✅ Region 4 Trainings Continue! 🌱🇬🇾

The Guyana Food Safety Authority successfully completed Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) & Food Safety Training sessions in Mocha, Timehri, Sarah Johanna, and Friendship with support from the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute and the Environmental Health Department – Region 4.

We thank all participants for their cooperation and engagement as we continue promoting safer food handling and agricultural practices across our communities.
