Today marks the observance of International Day for Biological Diversity. All species on earth are important and provide us with the services we need to keep life on earth going.

This year's theme 'Acting locally for global impact' reminds us that we all have a role to play in protecting biodiversity and that small actions, when combined, will have a positive ripple effect across the world.

𝗚𝗪𝗖𝗠𝗖 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗯𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴

Staff from the Commission today participated in a capacity building session focusing on Shorebirds. The training highlighted critical information regarding shorebirds including shorebird identification, breeding seasons and migration patterns.

The GWCMC conducted awareness sessions at selected schools in Region 4. Students were engaged on the importance of wildlife, what to do in encounters with wildlife and measures for wildlife conservation.

The schools benefitting from these sessions were: Moblissa Primary, Silver Hill Primary, Kuru Kuru Primary, Dora Secondary, Supply Primary, St. Mary's Primary, Soesdyke Primary and Timehri Primary.
