FORGING HONG KONG-OMAN PARTNERSHIPS THROUGH BUSINESS FORUM🤝

HKETO Dubai successfully hosted the Oman - Hong Kong, China Business Forum in Muscat on 7 July, bringing together more than 150 government officials and business leaders to deepen economic and trade ties between Hong Kong and Oman.

Co-organised with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and supported by Invest Oman, the forum showcased Hong Kong’s strategic role as the gateway to the Chinese Mainland and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), highlighting the vast opportunities available to Omani businesses and investors.

HKETO Dubai Director-General Mr Simon Chan addressed the forum, underscoring the office’s role in strengthening government-to-government relations and fostering commercial partnerships between Hong Kong and the Gulf region. He highlighted growing ties between Oman and China, and the unique role Hong Kong plays in the partnership. The programme also featured presentations by representatives from Invest Oman, HKTDC and InvestHK, offering insights into Hong Kong’s competitive advantages as an international business and investment hub for the GCC.

استضاف مكتب هونغ كونغ الاقتصادي والتجاري في دبي منتدى الأعمال بين عُمان وهونغ كونغ، الصين في مسقط بتاريخ 7 يوليو، بمشاركة أكثر من 150 مسؤولًا حكوميًا وقائدًا من قطاع الأعمال، بهدف تعزيز العلاقات الاقتصادية والتجارية بين الجانبين. ونُظّم المنتدى بالتعاون مع مجلس تنمية التجارة في هونغ كونغ وبدعم من "استثمر في عُمان"، حيث استعرض دور هونغ كونغ كبوابة تربط البر الرئيسي الصيني ومنطقة خليج قوانغدونغ - هونغ كونغ - ماكاو الكبرى، والفرص المتاحة أمام الشركات والمستثمرين العُمانيين.

وأكد السيد سايمون تشان، المدير العام لمكتب هونغ كونغ الاقتصادي والتجاري في دبي، دور المكتب في تعزيز العلاقات الحكومية والتجارية بين هونغ كونغ ومنطقة الخليج، مشيرًا إلى تنامي العلاقات بين عُمان والصين والدور الفريد لهونغ كونغ في هذه الشراكة. كما تضمن المنتدى عروضًا من "استثمر في عُمان" ومجلس تنمية التجارة في هونغ كونغ وهيئة الاستثمار في هونغ كونغ (إنفست هونغ كونغ) حول مزايا هونغ كونغ كوجهة عالمية للأعمال والاستثمار في منطقة الخليج.

HKETO DUBAI SUPPORTS LEAP EAST 2026 IN HONG KONG🌐

LEAP East 2026, the first overseas edition of the international technology exhibition held in Saudi Arabia, was successfully held in Hong Kong. During the preparation period, HKETO Dubai worked closely with the organisers and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. HKETO Dubai also visited Riyadh to hold meetings with the organisers and Ministry officials, and held multiple online meetings to provide advice and support for the LEAP East arrangements in Hong Kong, helping ensure the smooth delivery of the event.

The event gathered over 35,000 participants and showcased innovations in artificial intelligence, deep technology, smart cities and new energy, while promoting collaboration between investors, start-ups and technology sectors. LEAP East 2026 in Hong Kong followed successful missions by Chief Executive John Lee and Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Prof Sun D**g who led delegations to visit Riyadh and attended the second and third editions of LEAP respectively.

LEAP East 2026 highlighted the growing partnership between Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia, as well as Hong Kong’s role as a gateway connecting the Chinese mainland with the world. The event will continue to be held in Hong Kong for the next three years. As a supporting partner of LEAP East 2026, HKETO Dubai will continue to encourage Middle East events and initiatives to expand to Hong Kong and build partnerships with the city.

جاء انعقاد المؤتمر في هونغ كونغ بعد مشاركة السيد جون لي، الرئيس التنفيذي لمنطقة هونغ كونغ الإدارية الخاصة، ووزير الابتكار والتكنولوجيا والصناعة في حكومة هونغ كونغ، البروفيسور سون دونغ في النسختين الثانية والثالثة من مؤتمر "LEAP" في السعودية. ويعكس "LEAP east 2026" تنامي الشراكة بين هونغ كونغ والمملكة العربية السعودية، ويؤكد مكانة هونغ كونغ كبوابة تربط البر الرئيسي الصيني بالعالم. سيُقام المؤتمر في هونغ كونغ خلال السنوات الثلاث المقبلة، فيما سيواصل مكتب هونغ كونغ الاقتصادي والتجاري في دبي، بصفته شريكًا داعمًا، دعم الفعاليات والمبادرات من الشرق الأوسط للتوسع إلى هونغ كونغ وبناء شراكات معها.

🌐 LEAP EAST 2026 BROUGHT GLOBAL INNOVATION TO HONG KONG

The inaugural LEAP East 2026 was held in Hong Kong from Jul 8–10, marking the event’s first edition outside Saudi Arabia. The three-day technology summit gathered more than 35,000 participants, including 340 speakers and 450 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions, showcasing innovations in AI, deep tech, smart cities and new energy.

Senior officials from Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia, including HKSAR Financial Secretary Paul Chan and Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology H.E. Abdullah Alswaha, attended the opening ceremony, highlighting technology collaboration between the two sides.

LEAP East highlighted the partnership between Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia and the city’s role as a gateway connecting the Chinese Mainland with the world. A Saudi digital enterprise exhibitor described it as a platform for overseas expansion, while Hilda Chan, Chief Marketing Officer of HKSTP, highlighted Hong Kong’s role as a super-connector. LEAP East will be hosted in Hong Kong over the next three years.

BUILDING COMPREHENSIVE GOLD TRADING ECOSYSTEM

Hong Kong’s new central clearing and settlement system for gold commenced trial operation on July 7 🆕, together with a suite of targeted initiatives aiming to build a modern and full-chain gold trading ecosystem. These measures will collectively bolster Hong Kong’s role as a trusted international gold trading, clearing, and reserve hub. Learn more from the image🔎

In tandem with the commencement of the trial operation, the first batch of gold has been successfully deposited into the designated vault and the first batch of trading and settlement activities has also been completed, marking a significant step forward in developing Hong Kong’s gold trading infrastructure. LEAP EAST 2026 DEBUTS IN HONG KONG

LEAP East 2026 officially opened in Hong Kong, marking the first time the globally renowned tech summit has been held outside Saudi Arabia. Held from 8–10 July, the event brought together global leaders in technology, investment and innovation to forge stronger ties between the Middle East and East Asia.

The inaugural Asia-Pacific edition aims to build a new two-way investment and innovation corridor between the Middle East and East Asia, fostering collaboration in AI, fintech, smart cities, deep tech, digital transformation and other emerging technologies.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan highlighted the city's unique position as a "super connector" linking Chinese Mainland with global markets and welcomed the continued partnership with Saudi Arabia, with LEAP East set to be hosted in Hong Kong for the next three years. Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Professor Sun D**g also noted the strong international participation, with more than 35,000 visitors, 450 exhibitors, 340 speakers and over 400 investors from around the world attending the landmark event. The Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Saudi Arabia, Abdullah Alswaha, also officiated the opening ceremony.

The successful launch of LEAP East underscored Hong Kong's growing role as a global innovation and technology hub and strengthened its position as a bridge between Asia and the Middle East. As a supporting partner of LEAP East 2026, HKETO Dubai will continue to encourage events in Middle East to establish in and partner with Hong Kong.

HONG KONG RISES AS A MUSLIM-FRIENDLY DESTINATION!👏

At the annual Halal in Travel Awards on Jun 18, Hong Kong jumped one place to rank second in the Muslim-friendly Destination of the Year category among non-Organisation of Islamic Cooperation destinations. Hong Kong also retained its top spot in Muslim-friendly Accessible Travel Destination (Non-OIC).🌏

HKTB’s “Jelajah Hong Kong” campaign, which targets Southeast Asian Muslim markets, was named Halal Travel Marketing Campaign of the Year. Hong Kong’s trade partners were also recognised:

تواصل هونغ كونغ تعزيز مكانتها كوجهة ترحب بالمسافرين المسلمين من مختلف أنحاء العالم. ✨ في حفل جوائز السفر الحلال السنوية الذي أُقيم في 18 يونيو، تقدمت هونغ كونغ إلى المركز الثاني ضمن فئة «الوجهة الصديقة للمسافرين المسلمين لهذا العام» بين الدول غير الأعضاء في منظمة التعاون الإسلامي، كما حافظت على المركز الأول في فئة «الوجهة الأكثر ملاءمة للمسافرين المسلمين من أصحاب الهمم».

كما تم اختيار حملة «جيلاجاه هونغ كونغ»، التي أطلقها مجلس السياحة في هونغ كونغ للترويج لهونغ كونغ في الأسواق الإسلامية في جنوب شرق آسيا، كـ «أفضل حملة تسويقية للسياحة الحلال لهذا العام».

وشهدت الجوائز أيضاً تكريم عدد من شركاء القطاع السياحي في هونغ كونغ، حيث نال «أوشن بارك هونغ كونغ» جائزة أفضل معلم سياحي صديق للمسافرين المسلمين، وحصل «فندق دورسيت تسوين وان – هونغ كونغ» على جائزة أفضل فندق صديق للمسافرين المسلمين، فيما فازت «محطة كاي تاك للرحلات البحرية» بجائزة أفضل مركز نقل صديق للمسافرين المسلمين.
