Being one of the most active societies in HKU, PPAA's mission is to advance the public interest through changing political apathy into awareness, motivating people to critically rethink about what they can do as citizens in local and international systems of governance, and training high caliber leaders who are concerned with serving society uncompromisingly. Founded in 1973 as Hong Kong's first s

tudent-led society focused on the study of global and public affairs, Politics and Public Administration Association SSS HKUSU (PPAA, 政治及公共行政學會) has emerged into one of the most successful of its kind in the region. Today, having strong links with the community and serving as the official student representative body of the HKU Department of Politics and Public Administration, PPAA promotes the free exchange of diverse ideas regarding compelling issues ranging from transnational terrorism and nuclear proliferation to entrenched poverty, Cross-Strait relations, political reforms in Hong Kong and China, and many more. Every year, PPAA organizes a huge variety of current public affairs forums, panels, exhibitions, debates, and social activities for its Members, HKU students and alumni, and the general public. This is a page for all our members, which acts as an effective communication between you and us, the ExCo. Up-coming events, and photos of functions will be posted here.

二零二五至二零二六年度教師學生聯席會議已於二零二六年五月二十九日順利舉行。此次會議十分成功，本會已向學系教職員反映學生不同的意見及看法。感謝各位教師參與會議，積極針對今年課程和教學中的問題，提供意見和解決方案，並再次感謝所有填寫問卷的學生！

The Staff-Student Consultative Conference (2025/2026) was held on 29 May 2026. The meeting was fruitful as we reflected on students’ views towards the department. We appreciate teaching staff who attended the conference, actively provided opinion and solutions. We shared the thoughts and concerns of courses and teaching of this year. Thank you all students who filled in the questionnaire.

淺談 Laissez-faire 自由放任

Laissez-faire，即「自由放任」一詞，源自法語，意思為 ‘let it go’，是一種主張政府對經濟進行最小干預的哲學。該理論認為，經濟應透過供需關係，以及自由市場交易原則進行自然調節，而非依賴政府權力，以促進私有產權及個人自主。

儘管放鬆管制能促進自由貿易、保護個人權利、並透過競爭提高效率，但反對者認為，它助長個人追求自身利益的行為，造成貧富差距，並導致社會之間協調不力。在 1930 年代大蕭條時期，經濟模式發生了重大轉變，由自然調節續漸變為國家干預。因此，政府干預與自由市場原則之間的平衡仍在不斷演變，反映了國家在經濟事務中扮演甚麼角色的持續爭論。
