The ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Youth (SOMY) is pleased to announce the 3rd Annual ASEAN Youth Video contest focused on the theme of “What does 50 Years of ASEAN Mean to Youth?” The ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Youth (SOMY) is pleased to announce the 3rd Annual ASEAN Youth Video contest focused on the theme of “What does 50 Years of ASEAN Mean to Youth?” This contest is supported by the

U.S. ASEAN is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year! To commemorate this important milestone, we invite youth citizens of ASEAN to submit a 60-second video on why they think ASEAN is important and what their aspirations and hopes are for the next fifty years of ASEAN. The top 10 entries will be selected to participate in an expert-led filmmaking workshop in Singapore and be eligible to win cash prizes! Please submit your video to www.ASEANyouthvideocontest2017.com before July 1st, 2017.

This 2D animated video directed by Peter Chan and Phynuch Thong handpicks ASEAN’s 50-year achievements paramount to youth in the region. It pinpoints and illustrates ASEAN’s outstanding developments in each pillar through precise and clear explanations with interactive info-graphics and interesting facts. Furthermore, the video serves as a potent reminder for young people in this fourth-largest-exporting region that behind the complex bureaucratic politics, ASEAN has made significant progress both at the state and people-level.

In this year of ASEAN’s 50th anniversary, Peter and Phynuch are honored to represent Cambodia in the ASEAN Youth Video Contest 2017 and are proud to be a part of this forward-moving ASEAN-led community.
