📟 At 10:45 this morning, our pagers sounded, and our team was tasked to assist a person in distress on Slievemore Mountain.
Our team made their way to the casualty and safely stretchered them back down the mountain, where they were handed over to the National Ambulance Service (NAS) crew and An Garda Síochána Mayo for further care and assistance.

We wish the casualty a speedy recovery. 💙

We were delighted to attend Feile Chill Damhnait Family Fun Day today with our Coast Guard boat and aircraft display.
It was a fantastic day, with the crew also taking the opportunity to train alongside the lifeboat and demonstrate our teamwork in action!

Today we say a heartfelt thank you to Ray on his retirement from the Achill Coast Guard Unit after 35 years of dedicated service. His knowledge, experience, and guidance have shaped generations of volunteers and have been invaluable to our team. No words can truly express our gratitude for everything he has given to the unit. Wishing you a long, happy, and well-deserved retirement, Ray—you'll always be part of the Achill Coast Guard family!

Last night, we were delighted to welcome the Achill Island Order of Malta Cadets, along with their leaders, to Achill Coast Guard Station for an evening of learning, fun, and exploration.

The cadets got a hands-on look at the equipment and resources we use during search and rescue operations, including demonstrations of our cliff rescue systems, rescue boat, and specialist equipment. They also had the opportunity to try on some of our Coast Guard PPE and get a closer look at the gear our volunteers use when responding to incidents.

It was fantastic to spend time with some of Achill’s youngest volunteers. The skills, confidence, and community spirit that these young people develop through organisations like the Order of Malta are invaluable, and they are a credit to their leaders, families, and community.

The future of volunteering and emergency response is bright with young people like these leading the way. We thoroughly enjoyed hosting the group, answering their questions, and sharing a little insight into the work of the Coast Guard.

A huge thank you to the cadets and leaders for visiting us. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future!

Great to spend the evening training alongside our colleagues from Westport Coast Guard Station atAshleam. Joint training like this is invaluable for building teamwork, sharing knowledge, and strengthening the relationships that are so important during real-life taskings.
