Join us at Luan Gallery on Thursday 5 November, 6 - 8pm, for Fallowing - A Mindful Immersion, a guided evening of mindfulness, slow looking and reflection within Fiona Kelly’s solo exhibition Allow to Fallow, Allow to Fall Low.

Facilitated by art therapist and yoga teacher Tara Mulvihill, the session invites participants to take time and space within the gallery, moving through a series of gentle mindfulness practices including focused looking and quiet exploration of the exhibition.

Drawing on the exhibition’s consideration of fallowness, stillness and regeneration, the evening offers an opportunity to slow down, pay close attention and experience the artworks through a more embodied and reflective mode of encounter.

Join us at Luan Gallery this Halloween Midterm break for Curious Forms: Halloween Sculpture Workshops inspired by our current exhibition Allow to Fallow, Allow to Fall Low.

Beginning at Luan Gallery, children will take part in a short, child-friendly tour of the exhibition, looking closely at Fiona Kelly’s sculptural works and exploring their shapes, forms, textures and materials. Participants will be encouraged to share what they notice and think about how artists can use sculpture to transform ideas and observations into three-dimensional forms.

Following the tour, the group will walk together to Abbey Road Artists’ Studios, where children will create their own sculptures using modelling clay and sculpting tools. Guided by artist Mariia Holdysh participants will experiment with shaping, building and adding texture to develop their own individual creations inspired by their visit to the gallery.

Join us in Abbey Road Artists’ Studios with Taz Kelleher of The Useless Project for a creative Halloween workshop exploring how discarded and everyday materials can be transformed into something completely new. Inspired by ideas of reuse, transformation and material change explored in Fiona Kelly’s exhibition Allow to Fallow, Allow to Fall Low, children will use recycled and repurposed materials to design and build their very own Halloween monster.

Guided by Taz, participants will experiment with shape, texture, colour and construction, combining unexpected materials to give their monster its own character, features and personality.

Through playful making, children will be encouraged to look differently at the materials around them and discover how things that might otherwise be thrown away can be reimagined through creativity.

Details of our current exhibition Allow to Fallow, Allow to Fall Low, a solo exhibition by Fiona Kelly.

Centering on the concept of fallowness, the exhibition considers the value of stillness as both a method and a form of resistance, questioning expectations of constant artistic production in an age defined by urgency. It explores how spaces of pause and contemplation might be reintroduced within contemporary practice, foregrounding the potential of strategic dormancy as a generative condition.

Please be aware that road and footpath improvements are taking place around the entrance to Luan Gallery over the coming weeks.

📅 What to expect:
• Gallery Side: Footpath works have commenced and are expected to finish in early October.
• St. Peter’s Church Side: Works start Monday, 5 October, and are expected to wrap up by mid-October.
✨ We are OPEN as usual! ✨
Come visit us during our normal opening hours:
• Gallery Open: Tue–Sat (11am–5pm) & Sun (12pm–5pm)
• Staff On-Site: 7 days a week (9:30am–5:30pm)

♿️ Accessibility:
Access to the gallery entrance will be via the ramp, which remains fully accessible for all visitors.

Join exhibiting artist Fiona Kelly in conversation with Dr Declan Long, Head of Doctoral Studies and Co-Director of the MA/MFA Art in the Contemporary World at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, as they discuss Kelly’s solo exhibition Allow to Fallow, Allow to Fall Low at Luan Gallery.

Allow to Fallow, Allow to Fall Low is a solo exhibition of newly commissioned work by visual artist Fiona Kelly. Centring on the concept of fallowness, the exhibition considers the value of stillness as both a method and a form of resistance, questioning expectations of constant artistic production in an age defined by urgency.
