OUR NEXT FILM – Again, licensing rules mean we can’t name the film, the director, or the characters outside the venue (Baltinglass Library) or our private member communications. But the following might give you a sense of what’s screening on Tuesday 29th of April.

"You make me feel like a person"
This film is about the lengths we go to find love and connection, big dreams, and the devastating power of addiction. Based on a novel (yes, you can borrow it from the library), it’s a raw, visually stunning piece of cinema with a soundtrack that’s become iconic in its own right.

The director is known for pushing cinematic boundaries, and this film is no exception. Emotional, intense, and unforgettable, certainly not for the faint hearted.

Join our club to get full access to film titles, screenings and updates and be part of bringing cinema back to Baltinglass.

OUR FIRST FILM – licensing rules don’t allow us to name the film, the producer or the characters, except to club members or within the venue (Baltinglass Library). The following description may give you a bit of a clue about what’s on Show on Tuesday 25 March.

Small towns have a lot in common no matter where they are – Ireland, Italy, Texas, or wherever. Very few small towns have cinemas anymore but decades ago Baltinglass had the Carlton Cinema in Edward Street. It showed its last Picture in the early 1980s. Over 40 years later we’re showing our first picture and we’re confident it won’t be the Last.

Our film’s story is set in a small community and its based on a novel (which you can borrow from the library if you want to read it afterwards). Interestingly, it was shot in the writer’s home town. It got 8 Oscar nominations, with two of its stars winning. Nineteen years later the director made a sequel in which six of the original characters were played again by the same actors.
