🚨 Party for Animal Welfare (PAW) Ireland 🐾☀️

Please take extra care of your pets and all animals during Ireland's mini heatwave. ❤️ Make sure they have plenty of fresh water, shade, and never leave them in a parked car. 🐶🐱💧

It's heartbreaking that, during such dry conditions, a wildfire in Killarney National Park is believed to have been started by the reckless use of a disposable barbecue. The fire has caused significant damage to one of Ireland's most precious natural habitats, putting wildlife, biodiversity and firefighters at risk. 🔥🌳🦌

PAW calls on Irish Minister James Browne that those responsible are identified, they should be held fully accountable for the damage and the costs of the emergency response.

Met Éireann has warned that the prolonged hot, dry weather increases the risk of:
☀️ &

Great work by Cork Gardai

Yesterday, Gardaí responded to reports of a pony tied to a tree in a housing estate in the Bishopstown area of Cork City and had been used to pull a cart during the hat weather and wasn’t being looked after.

Gardaí located the pony, and subsequent enquiries established that it had been purchased at a recent horse fair before being transported to and kept in the public green area of a housing estate.

The pony was not microchipped, as required by law, and was subsequently seized under the Control of Horses Act 1996 (as amended).

The pony is now in care of the vets and being well looked after.

An Garda Síochána reminds all animal owners that they have a legal responsibility to ensure their animals are properly identified, kept under control, and that their welfare is safeguarded at all times.
