You will see signs have been erected at woods entrance ..

This week will be some tree pruning and some that have to be felled , that are damaged etc.
We walked through these points with Coillte on site and agreed on what would be and what wouldn’t be taken.

From next week the woods will be closer for the clearing of the top Sitka area as agreed. Please note that the woods should not be accessed in that time frame as it will be a live work site.

Coillte have assured that they will tidy said area after works and into October in preparation for plsntinvtof native trees in January next.

Very positive meeting today in the woods with myself and other locals and also Cllr Terry Shannon and Cllr Mary Rose Desmond and Bernard from Coillte Forestry.

Things are looking bright for this little woods 😀

All is positive on the Woods front.

We will meet with Coillte next week & try to come up with solutions that will please everybody!

Discussions between Coillte and politicians have been very useful and will hopefully pave the way for discussions with Coillte and us (the locals that use the wood).

I would like to have a Friends if Garyduff core group, for having discussions on this front, so can you please message the page here if you can help.

I know the petition was created by those in UCC Environmentmal group so one or two of you (better experts than I) would be great to have in this core group.

Anyone that can help with this please let me know. I am so happy that we made our voice heard, now working our way through this with Coillte is the next step.

I created this page to keep a track of all issues with our beautiful local woodland.

As you are aware, movements are in place for some devastating felling and road building. Our goal is to not have our local paradise wrecked.

Please get as many as your friend who care to join this page .

We can all pull together here to get things done in the great area.
