✨A Rite of Passage for Every Family in Ireland ✨
They say it takes a village to raise a child, but how often do we stop to celebrate that child’s growing place within the village? I recently completed my training for Aois na Cúise (The Age of Reason ceremony), and it was a profound experience. The program invites us to look at a child not as a list of accomplishments, but as a tapestry of traits, experiences, hopes, and dreams.
As I sat there, I thought about my own journey into ‘second childhood’, that moment when you start to understand your value and purpose. Aois na Cúise provides the ‘architecture’ for that transition. It’s a commitment to ‘progress, not perfection’, allowing families to reflect on how far their child has come before they move forward.
What I love most is that this program is entirely non-religious and pro-goodness. It uses the power of Irish mythology and nature to guide children to listen to themselves. We spend so much time rushing; this program is a formal invitation to stop and acknowledge the incredible person your 7 or 8-year-old is becoming.
I believe that every family in Ireland deserves this chance to honor their child’s unique identity, and I’m not alone! I was trained with other amazing celebrants that would also love to bring this to different corners of the country. Thank you, Aoife the Irish Celebrant, for bringing us along on this journey. I’m so grateful to be guided and trained by you, and to witness the magic you create for children and their families around Dundalk.
To the families looking to honor their child’s transition: I'd love to bring this to my neck of the woods!
I am now on offering Aois na Cúise ceremonies in Cork and would be honored to guide you and your child through this journey of workshops and celebration. Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss how we can create a ceremony that reflects your child’s unique identity and values. Let’s honor this threshold together!❤️
