Rusty fixturing need not be dis-assembled anymore. Laser cleaning can clean (derust) as is.

Nice wide beam - 150mm. Ok, the process is slow but you can see the beam reacting with the burnt on release agent. The beam also goes down the holes, delaminating as she goes. We know this because when we blew compressed air, it blew the stuff out the other side, almost in one piece ! Very strange but that is the manic of laser cleaning, or laser ablation, to give it its correct term.

Normally one does not touch the blade roots, but this is a scrap part so we do it anyway. If this cleaning process ever gets approved, then it lends itself to full automation, cleaning the blade in seconds.
