We are asking the government to listen to the will of the Irish people, who want the chance to WELCOME refugees and asylum seekers into our communities. We would consider ourselves lucky to call these people neighbours, colleagues, and friends. Right now, we are being deprived of the opportunity to do so, and deprived of the diversity of culture that makes the tapestry of any society so much riche

r and deeper. Under Direct Provision, asylum seekers are kept away from communities- they are not entitled to seek work, to cook for themselves, or to access third level education,. They are subject to a curfew, which restricts their movement and activities. They are forced to survive on 19.10 per week. They are not entitled to travel, which leaves women particularly vulnerable, due to our country’s terrifying abortion laws. They are virtually imprisoned. The Direct Provision system is designed to be so unpleasant as to deter people from seeking asylum in Ireland. And people are living under these conditions for up to 10 years. Clearly, the Irish government is racist. The Irish people however, are not. And this is how we can show it. HOW YOU CAN TAKE PART IN THIS CAMPAIGN

1. Take a photograph of yourself holding our sign (available on this page for download and print), in a local spot within your community/ town.

2. Upload it to your social media with the hashtag EndDirectProvision.

3. Nominate three social media friends to do the same. Lets send a clear message!! Will you hear us, Irish government??

Dayo wants to go to college in Sligo IT. He finished his Leaving Cert two years ago but because he lives in Direct Provision Centre in Mayo, he is required to pay non- EU fees in order to attend college. For most young people in Direct Provision, that means no college education, full stop.

There are people who believe we live in a meritocracy. Well, when you don't have access to third level education, what impact does that have on your future career options?

Dayo deserves the same chance as every other young person. If you have any amount of money to put towards the fund for his registration fee, that would be wonderful. If you don't have any money, a share of the link would be very helpful too. X

This is so great! You see, the Irish people are welcoming, we are not racist! It is the Irish government that are racist, accepting such paltry numbers of Syrian refugees. Irish people are waiting to welcome them, many of us have pledged beds and friendship . But the government continue to stall in their commitments, meanwhile people are suffering in refugee camps. Please follow this link ask Frances Fitzgerald to good on her promise and bring more refugees to Ireland.

As activists, a crack down on protest affects all of us.
The DPP is trying to stack the jury against the activists by excluding anyone with a connection to Tallaght and anyone who has expressed an opinion on the water charges from it.

They have also attempted to extend the bail conditions to stop the defendants from speaking about the trial in public and on social media, which allows the right wing media to create the narrative.

And for them to be charged with false imprisonment is an absolute disgrace- if Joan Burton being delayed for 3 hours results in a number of activists facing life in prison, how have governments not been charged with the same for keeping people in the Direct Provision system?
