Anne Rabbitte TD

Anne Rabbitte TD Senator at Seanad Éireann, the Senate of the Oireachtas, comprising the President of Ireland and Dáil Eireann. Thanks for stopping by my page.

I'm Anne Rabbitte, a proud Irish mom of three grown kids. I had the privilege of being elected to the Dáil in February 2016 and once again reelected in February 2020 to represent the people of Galway East. A significant milestone in my political career came with my appointment as Minister of State in the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, and Integration, with a special focus on disabil

ity issues. This role has allowed me to directly impact policies that support some of our most vulnerable communities. My deep understanding of government, established rapport, and strong relationships with various government departments have enabled the efficient delivery of essential community projects. At the heart of my political philosophy is an unwavering commitment to building stronger, more inclusive communities. I believe in creating environments where equality is not just an ideal but a lived reality. My journey continues, powered by the same determination and hope that have brought me this far—a dedication to serving, listening, and making a meaningful difference.

Congratulations Councillor Ivan Canning on the delivery of these projects all very welcome additions to Visit Portumna for locals and visitors alike.

I am delighted to say after my many representations which have been ongoing for the last number of years, there have been many accessibility improvements made to Portumna Town recently.
Firstly, the accessible ramps and realigning of the road at Billy Martins Juction have made this corner much safer for all road users and pedestrians.
The new Paedestrian Crossing at Dillons Corner has been a very welcome improvement to insure our town is accessible to all. (We are just waiting for the flashing beacons to be installed by Electric Skyline)
Finally, the Wheelchair Parking outside the Cottage Stores which I funded from my own discretionary funds, is proving to be very successful, given its location on the Main Street, which was needed for a long number of years.
Many thanks to Gerard Hough, Karl and their teams at GCC.

International Women’s Day is a moment to pause and reflect on the journey so many women have taken — and the path still ahead.

Today I wrote a letter to the girls of Ireland — to remind them that their voices matter, their ideas belong in the rooms where decisions are made, and their future is full of possibility.

If you know a young woman finding her way in the world, I hope you might share this with her.

Wherever you are today — at home, spending time with family, or friends or quietly beginning to imagine the life you want to build — I want you to know

Work is under way, conversations are being had about zoning, about use of land out side of what the delivers but there's not need to wait for the zoning to be amended as it's currently zoned agricultural. Equine is classified as agricultural buisness. The stables are there and I really welcome the appointment of a specialist hopefully we can soon see the delivery of an equine centre of excellence for the west of Ireland.

On Brigid’s Day, may the cold loosen its grip and the days grow kinder.

As Brigid brings the light of spring, may warmth return to the earth and hope to the heart.
