🗓️ Last Wednesday, the opening of the exhibition “Vision – Contemporary Photography from EU Member States” took place at Farmleigh Gallery in Dublin.

🇪🇪 The Embassy of Estonia was delighted to attend the opening, where Estonia was represented by photographer Sirli Raitma and her work “Coexistence / Kooseksisteerimine” (Sirli Raitma Photography).

✨“Vision – Contemporary Photography from EU Member States” presents photographic works from all 27 Member States of the European Union. The exhibition has been organised by the Office of Public Works, in cooperation with the Embassies of the European Union and various cultural organisations throughout Europe, and is supported by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport. The exhibition forms part of Ireland’s cultural programme for its Presidency of the Council of the European Union. 🇪🇪🇮🇪 On 21 July, Ambassador H.E. Kairi Künka was delighted to take part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Port of Galway alongside Ireland’s Ambassador to Estonia, H.E. James Sherry, Captain Brian Sheridan, Honorary Consul of Estonia in Galway, R**t Nõmmoja from Fibenol, and a representatives from Colas.

Together, we celebrated the enduring friendship between Estonia and Galway as part of Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union County Pairings Programme.

A special milestone of the day was the official opening of a new section of roadway paved with Fibenol’s innovative, environmentally friendly bio-based asphalt mixture—an excellent example of how Estonian innovation, in collaboration with partners like Colas, can contribute to a greener future.

Our sincere thanks to the Port of Galway, Captain Brian Sheridan, and all partners involved, including Colas, for making this pioneering project possible and for their outstanding support in strengthening Estonia–Ireland cooperation.

Days like these remind us that the strongest international partnerships are built not only through official cooperation, but also through shared experiences, innovation, culture, and genuine friendship. We look forward to continuing this special journey together. 🇪🇪🤝🇮🇪

🇪🇪🇮🇪 On 21 July, Ambassador H.E. Kairi Künka was delighted to take part in the Galway–Estonia Exchange Event 2026, alongside Ireland's Ambassador to Estonia, H.E. James Sherry, celebrating the enduring friendship between Galway and Estonia as part of Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union County Pairings Programme, organised by Galway City Council.

The day brought together representatives from Estonia and Ireland for a memorable celebration of the close ties between our two countries. It began with a Civic Reception at Galway City Hall, attended by Minister of State Seán Canney, Mayor of Galway Helen Ogbu, Brian Sheridan, Honorary Consul of Estonia in Galway, local leaders, community representatives and many friends of Estonia. The discussions reflected our shared European values and highlighted the many opportunities to deepen cooperation in innovation, culture and community development.

The programme continued with a guided city walk and lunch, offering guests the chance to experience Galway's unique spirit and rich cultural heritage. A special stop at the iconic Oscar Wilde and Eduard Vilde sculpture on Shop Street served as a fitting reminder of the long-standing cultural connections and friendship between Estonia and Ireland.

The day concluded with a wonderful cultural evening at Galway City Museum, where the Embassy of Estonia screened the documentary Reel to Revolution, telling the inspiring story of Irish musicians who travelled to Soviet Estonia in 1988 and helped build bridges through music. The screening was followed by a heartfelt concert by Irish musicians, after which guests enjoyed a reception featuring delicious cakes prepared by Nordic Twist, providing a warm and memorable conclusion to an exceptional day.

A heartfelt thank you to Galway City Council for the warm welcome and outstanding organisation, and to everyone who helped make this celebration so special. A special thank you also to Nordic Twist for the beautiful and delicious cakes that added a wonderful Estonian touch to the evening. Days like these remind us that the strongest international partnerships are built not only through official cooperation, but also through shared experiences, culture and genuine friendship. We look forward to continuing this special journey together. 🇪🇪🤝🇮🇪

🇪🇪🇮🇪 21. juulil osales Eesti suursaadik Iirimaal Kairi Künka koos Iirimaa suursaadikuga Eestis James Sherryga Galway–Estonia Exchange Event 2026 raames toimunud üritustel, tähistades Galway ja Eesti pikaajalist sõprust ning tugevaid sidemeid Euroopa Liidu eesistumise maakondlike partnerluste programmi raames, mille korraldas Galway City Council.

Päev tõi kokku Eesti ja Iirimaa esindajad, et tähistada meie kahe riigi vahelisi lähedasi suhteid. Päev algas piduliku vastuvõtuga Galway raekojas, kus osalesid Iirimaa riigiminister Seán Canney, Galway linnapea Helen Ogbu, Eesti aukonsul Galway’s Brian Sheridan, kohalikud juhid, kogukonna esindajad ning paljud Eesti sõbrad.
