When people think about fostering, they often picture one kind of family and one kind of experience.
But fostering can look very different depending on what a child needs at that moment in their life.
For some children, it’s a safe place to stay for a few nights during a crisis. For others, it’s a longer-term home where they can settle, grow, and feel part of everyday family life.
Some foster carers support brothers and sisters to stay together. Some provide respite care, offering planned short breaks that support children and other foster families. Some care for children with additional needs, with extra training and support around them. Some support young parents and their babies.
No two children are the same, and no two foster families are the same either.
What matters most is being able to offer warmth, patience, and a home where a child can begin to feel safe again.
If fostering is something you’ve been thinking about, we’re always happy to have a conversation.
