Strong Chamber networks and European collaboration have never been more important.

On Monday evening, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Chamber of Commerce was delighted to be represented by Board Member Viv Gaine, Centre Director at Frascati Centre Blackrock, at a significant gathering of Chamber leaders from across Ireland and Europe.

The event, organised by Chambers Ireland under the leadership of Ian Talbot and Margaret Considine - President Chambers Ireland, welcomed a delegation from Eurochambres, led by President Vladimir Dlouhy and CEO Ben Butters, for a full programme of engagements focused on Ireland's forthcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The visit marked an important milestone as Ireland prepares to assume the Presidency next month.

The programme included engagement with An Taoiseach Micheál Martin, discussions hosted by Dublin Chamber, and a gathering of Chamber CEOs, Presidents and bilateral Chamber representatives from across the country.

The conversations focused on some of the most pressing priorities facing businesses across Ireland and Europe, including:

• Competitiveness and productivity
• Innovation and digital transformation
• Skills and workforce development
• Trade and the Single Market
• Sustainability and economic growth
• The critical role of Chambers of Commerce in representing business interests

With Eurochambres representing more than 20 million businesses and 120 million employees across Europe, the discussions highlighted the importance of strong collaboration, practical leadership, and ensuring that the voice of business is heard at both national and European level.

As Ireland prepares to take on this important Presidency role, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Chamber of Commerce welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the conversations that will help shape the future of business, trade and economic development across Europe.

A sincere thank you to Chambers Ireland, Eurochambres, Dublin Chamber, and all involved in organising what was clearly a valuable and timely event.

As An Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Councillor Jim Gildea has been a tremendous supporter of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Chamber of Commerce, our members, and the wider business community throughout his term.

As his year in office comes to an end today, our CEO Colette O'Sullivan would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation, both personally and on behalf of our President Colin Brown, the Chamber Board, and our members.

Jim Gildea has consistently championed collaboration, community engagement, economic development, and the importance of strong partnerships between business, local government and the wider community. His support has been instrumental across many initiatives over the past year, including the continued growth of the Chamber, the promotion of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown as a place to live, work and invest, and the strengthening of relationships across our county.

We were particularly delighted to work alongside Jim during a landmark year for the Chamber, including the achievement of Purple Flag Accreditation for Dún Laoghaire and the launch of our World-First Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Bespoke Locale Economic Report commissioned by Sunstone and officially launched by Minister Jack Chambers.

One of Jim's most passionate commitments during his term has been his support for us striving to make Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown the first Dementia Inclusive County in Ireland.

Working in collaboration with the The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, he has been a powerful advocate for creating communities where people living with dementia and their families feel understood, supported and included. His leadership in this area will leave a lasting legacy across our county.

Public service often happens behind the scenes, but Jim's commitment, accessibility, positivity and genuine passion for Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown have been evident every step of the way.

Thank you, Jim, for your friendship, support and dedication throughout your term as An Cathaoirleach.

We wish you every success for the future and look forward to continuing to work together in the years ahead.

Delivering impact. Driving Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown forward. Reasons to join and be part of DLR Chamber.

At DLR Chamber, we are proud to represent a business community that is ambitious, collaborative and focused on the future.

Over recent months, we have continued to build momentum across advocacy, economic development, networking, international collaboration and community engagement - ensuring the voice of business is heard locally, nationally and internationally.

Some recent highlights include:

✔️ Delivering over 80 lobbying submissions between January and April 2026 alone - making DLR Chamber the 5th most active lobbying organisation in Ireland during that period.

✔️ Launching the World-First Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Bespoke Locale Economic Report with Sunstone - providing unique insight into our local economy and future opportunities.

✔️ Strengthening cross-border and UK business relationships through our Strategic MoU with Bangor Chamber of Commerce and subsequent presentation to the Oireachtas Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement.

✔️ Securing Purple Flag Accreditation for Dún Laoghaire, with plans now progressing for other towns across the county.

✔️ Expanding our events, networking opportunities, partnerships and engagement with key decision-makers locally and nationally.

The Chamber today is active, ambitious and growing - and we are incredibly grateful to our members, partners and wider business community for their continued support and collaboration.

Together, we are building a stronger Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.
