Ruaille Buaille - Lucan Children's Music Festival returns from June 3–6, 2026 with an exciting programme of free live music 🎶, workshops 🎨, performances 🎭 and creative experiences for children and families across Lucan.

This year’s festival will bring parks 🌳, schools, Lucan Library 📚, playgrounds and the beautiful grounds of Lucan House to life with a vibrant celebration of music, creativity and community ✨. Highlights include the return of Cruinniú na nÓg @ Ruaille Buaille Music Village on Saturday 6 June, featuring live performances 🎻, interactive workshops, circus acts 🤹‍♀️, world premieres and family-friendly activities throughout the day.

Audiences can enjoy everything from Brazilian rhythms 🥁 and cross-cultural musical journeys 🌍 to contemporary circus 🎪, traditional music 🎵, hands-on art workshops 🎨 and performances by talented local young musicians 👏. The festival will also showcase four new commissioned works and world premieres, alongside exciting new initiatives including Spotlight on Whistle 🎶 (2026–2029).

With face painting 🎨, balloon sculpting 🎈, creative quiet spaces 🌈 and over 300 children contributing artwork to the festival celebrations, Ruaille Buaille 2026 promises something for everyone 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦.

This week we're shining a spotlight on Women's Collective Ireland – Lucan and the fantastic work they do in supporting women, families and communities.

Through education, personal development, community engagement and peer support, Women's Collective Ireland creates opportunities for women to connect, learn and grow in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Their work helps strengthen community participation and build lasting connections that benefit the wider community.

Dublin Canvas – Summer 2026: New callout is now live for SDCC!

SDCC is currently encouraging artists to participate in the Dublin Canvas 2026 Summer Project. Completed artwork will brighten up and turn these once dull, often heavily tagged traffic light boxes into beautiful works of art, transforming South Dublin County into a walking gallery of public art. That’s a wrap on the PPN Summer School 2026 🌿
Over the past four days, PPN members from across Dublin came together to learn, connect, share experiences and build skills across a wide range of topics.
Today’s final sessions brought the programme to a close, followed by a lovely opportunity to celebrate together at the Closing Ceremony & Networking Lunch 🤝
A huge thank you to everyone who took part throughout the week, and to our partners DCU, Dublin City PPN, DLR PPN Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Public Participation Network and Fingal Public Participation Network - FPPN for making the Summer School such a positive and engaging experience.
It was fantastic to see so much collaboration, discussion and community spirit throughout the week.

There’s still time to get involved ahead of the upcoming South Dublin County PPN Plenary on Wednesday 10th June.

We are encouraging member organisations to: ✔ Submit nominations for Secretariat & LCDC vacancies
✔ Share feedback on policies due for ratification
✔ Register to attend the Plenary

Your voice and participation help shape the future direction of the PPN and strengthen community representation across South Dublin County.

🚨 Final call for applications – extended deadline 🚨

The National Age Friendly Recognition & Achievement Awards 2026 are now open for applications, with the deadline extended to Friday, 5 June.

Coordinated by Age Friendly Ireland, the awards recognise organisations, community groups, businesses, public bodies and individuals delivering projects that improve the lives of older people across Ireland.

This year, there is a strong focus on Safety & Security recognising initiatives that help older people feel safe, confident and supported at home and in their communities. This includes community safety programmes, partnerships with Local Authorities, An Garda Síochána, fire services, health services, volunteers and more.

Now in its 10th year, the awards highlight impactful, practical projects that can be shared and replicated across the country.

🏆 Awards Ceremony: 8 October 2026, Limerick Strand Hotel

What a brilliant start to Day 1 of the PPN Summer School 2026 🌿

This morning we were in DCU for our very first ever involvement in the PPN Summer School, where we took part in Media Promotion, Social Media & Content Creation 📱

This evening we’re continuing online with The Irish Political System and Where the PPN Sits 🏛️

It was great to come together with members from across the network.

We’re really looking forward to continuing the conversations tonight as Day 1 continues 💻

More learning, connection and community engagement to come over the week 🤝
