SWSS is anti-capitalist, anti-racist, anti-imperialist and anti-sexist. nt 5 Point Programme of SWSS:
1. We want a fully free education system at all levels. We want the registration fee, and all fees, scrapped, and all student grants raised to reflect the cost of living in modern society. We want all levels of education funded totally through progressive taxation.
2. We want an immediate end to the criminal bailouts of defunct banks with billions of euros of taxpayers’ money. We want our money spent on the people, not on making the greedy and super-rich even wealthier. We want to tax the rich and the super-rich of this country (including tax exiles who live abroad to avoid paying their fair share), to help pay to fix the mess that they created, and to fund a fully free education system for all.
3. We want the resources of Ireland, including the Corrib gas field, taken into public ownership and used for the benefit of all, instead of for the private profit of corporations.
4. We stand for the unity of the working class and students, and against all forms of racism, sexism, homophobia and sectarianism.
5. We stand for revolution: for the setting up of a workers’ republic run by the people, for the people. We want direct democracy in the running of all colleges, businesses, industries, and corporations by the collective will of their students and workers, working for the public good instead of for private profit. In short – we are for socialism. Socialism means true freedom and democracy; socialism means power to the people!
