Revenue is hosting an over 65s "All you need to know about tax" event

Revenue will host an information session for people over the age of 65 in Limerick on Wednesday, 3 June and again on Thursday, 4 June. The information session will cover a wide range of tax topics including, PAYE, Income Tax, CAT, CGT, LPT as well as presentations from The Law Society of Ireland and The Department of Social Protection. Irish Sign language (ISL) interpreter will be provided.

Our aim is to provide information on a range of tax topics which we hope will enable customers to continue to comply with their tax obligations, and to ensure they are aware of any reliefs, exemptions or tax credits they may be entitled to. On a daily basis we deal with a wide variety of queries and requests for assistance from customers aged 65 and over. Based on the queries and requests we receive, we have tailored the content of the event to address the areas of taxation we believe will be of most interest to this customer cohort. At each event, a ‘Questions and Answers’ session is provided for any general queries. Revenue staff are also on hand at each event if a person wishes to discuss any personal matters or to arrange a follow up appointment as needed.

The event has been held for number of years, and we have received very positive feedback from attendees. In 2025, the event series was held in Dublin, Castlebar and Waterford and was attended by almost 500 people.

Customers must register in advance of attending by calling 01 6474497 or by emailing [email protected].

Update on Castleconnell Flood Relief Scheme:

Limerick City and County Council (LCCC) intends shortly to submit a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) to An Coimisiún Pleanála to help keep the project on track. The CPO application is currently targeted for submission for the week ending 5 June 2026 subject to finalisation of the relevant documentation. The scheme received planning approval from An Coimisiún Pleanála in November 2025 (https://www.pleanala.ie/en-ie/case/321350).

To date, LCCC has engaged extensively with affected landowners with positive feedback received. Notwithstanding the intention to submit a CPO, it remains our preference that mutual agreements are reached within landowners in parallel with this approach, where possible. As part of this process, limited areas of permanent acquisition of lands is being sought with the majority of lands being subject to temporary or permanent wayleaves and permanent rights of way to facilitate construction and future maintenance of the scheme.

Should you require any further information or a briefing then please do not hesitate to get in touch. Further information on the scheme is available at the scheme website at www.castleconnellfrs.ie.
