Milford Hotel in Watercolour

We were delighted to receive this beautiful watercolour painting of the Milford Hotel, sent in by French artist Igor Kravets-Akkerman, who has been painting scenes of Milford over the past few years.

The painting captures the character and atmosphere of the building and offers a wonderful glimpse of Milford as it might have looked in earlier times. It’s always great to see familiar landmarks re-imagined through art.

A look inside at the latest progress.

This video is a walkthrough of the Milford Hotel as it stands now, showing just how much has changed in a short space of time.

With old materials and debris fully cleared out, the interior is now far more open, giving a real sense of the scale and potential of the space.

It’s a major milestone in the clear-out phase and a clear sign that the project is moving forward at pace.

Another busy week on site at the Milford Hotel as work gets straight back underway after Christmas.

This week saw the roof come off the Brass Tap Bar, opening the space up and marking another big step forward in the renovation.

Inside, the team has begun stripping back the walls - chipping away damaged layers and clearing the building back to its shell as preparations continue for the next phase.

From roof level to the interior, this video shows real progress and real hard work on site.

The transformation continues.

The clear out has begun.

The next phase of work has moved indoors. The team has begun clearing out the interior - removing years of rubbish, debris, and damaged materials to strip the building back to its bones.

This video captures the early stages of that process - honest, hands-on work that’s laying the foundations for the next chapter of this historic building.

It might not be the prettiest stage, but it’s a vital one. Every skip filled and every room cleared brings us a step closer to seeing this landmark rebuilt from the inside out.

Heavy Plant Arrival & Chimney Removal – In Pictures

These photos were captured last week as Hegarty Plant Hire rolled onto the Milford Hotel site with the big machines to clear rubble at the rear of the building. At the same time, David Deery Contracts were on the roof, carefully and safely removing the chimney.

The Heavy Plant Arrives & Chimney Removal - Another eventful week at the Milford Hotel

On Monday, 15th December 2025, the next phase of works began as Hegarty Plant Hire, Ballyare, rolled in with heavy plant to clear rubble to the rear of the site, making light work of the task at hand.

At the same time, David Deery Contracts were on the roof carrying out the safe removal of the chimney - another clear and visible step forward in the ongoing renovation and restoration of this historic building.

This video captures the scale, precision, and momentum of the work now underway.

THE WORK BEGINS.

At 8am on Monday, December 1st, the Milford Hotel came alive as the first crew arrived on site and the scaffolding began to rise. If you passed by this week, you couldn’t miss it - hard hats, high-vis jackets, and a real sense of activity as the site came to life.

Special thanks to Sweeney Scaffolding, Henry McGinley & Sons Ltd. and also to Fergus McGinley in the Post Office for allowing us to record some footage from his premises.

Drone and timelapse footage capture the moment the transformation officially started.

This is no longer talk - this is work in action.

The next chapter has just begun.

We’re delighted to welcome the brand new GALA Supermarket to town and to wish Ciaran McKenna and his fantastic team every success in their new venture.
