Passage West is cheering you on, Peter!

We were delighted to see Peter O’Flynn, a proud Passage West native, take part in the first episode of The Traitors Ireland last night!

Peter was born and raised in Passage West, attended St. Peter’s, played GAA with Passage, and football with Passage West Soccer Club — so it’s fantastic to see one of our own stepping into the spotlight. 👏

From all of us here at Passage West Together, we’re incredibly proud to see a local lad representing Passage West on such a big stage.

Wishing Peter every success on his Traitors journey — we’ll certainly be watching and cheering you on!

Best of luck, Peter! 🙌

🌻 Passage West Commuting Collaboration – Community Proposal

Shared on behalf of a local resident who is proposing the following community initiative. Passage West Together is sharing this post to help start a conversation and give residents an opportunity to share their views. This is not a Passage West Together initiative, and the page is not responsible for organising or operating the proposed scheme.

Introduction

The Passage West Commuting Collaboration is a proposed community initiative designed to strengthen community connections and explore ways of addressing local transport challenges.

The idea is to create a voluntary, neighbour-to-neighbour system where people travelling in the same direction can offer or request a lift. All rides would be offered entirely on a goodwill basis, with no payment expected or required.

The aim is to provide another possible commuting option while encouraging community spirit and shared responsibility.

Objectives

The proposed initiative would aim to:

• Help residents travelling towards Cork
• Encourage neighbours to support one another
• Provide an additional commuting option for those who may need it
• Encourage more drivers travelling towards Cork to consider offering a lift

🚗 Pickup Protocol

Commuters looking for a lift would wait at designated locations near local bus stops. These locations could be clearly marked with a sign explaining the collaboration.

Drivers travelling towards Cork could stop and offer a lift if they are heading in the same direction and are comfortable doing so.

Participation would be entirely voluntary for both drivers and passengers.

🛡️ Safety Measures

Safety would be an important consideration for any such initiative.

Suggestions include:

• Participants being encouraged to use a community identification pass or vehicle sticker, if an appropriate system can be established
• Drivers and passengers agreeing on the destination before travelling
• Using designated pick-up points that are clearly visible and, where possible, well-lit
• Participants only offering or accepting lifts when they feel comfortable doing so

This is currently a proposal for discussion, and there may be practical, legal, insurance and safety considerations that would need to be explored before anything could be implemented.

🌻 What do you think?

🎨💛 What a fantastic day for Passage West!

Today we officially revealed our Kindness in Action community wall display, created using artwork and kindness messages from the incredible students of St. Peter’s Community School.

This project was all about celebrating kindness, creativity, inclusion, and community spirit — and we couldn’t be prouder of how it came together.

A huge thank you to:
✨ The students and teachers of St. Peter's Community School
✨ Everyone who supported the project
✨ The Shamrock Stores for the wall space
✨ Passage West Creates
✨ Peter Hitz for designing the wall display
✨ PD Signs for bringing the display to life
✨ Siobhan Russell Photography of The Carrigdhoun Newspaper for capturing the day so beautifully

It was wonderful to see the students finally reveal their artwork and celebrate something so positive together.

We hope this wall display brings a little kindness and positivity to everyone who passes by 💛
