Today our Examiner Darren O'Neill and Kate O'Neill Instructors for Water Safety Ireland had the pleasure of having a chat with the Cathaoirleach of Offaly County Council, Cllr Eddie Fitzpatrick over how important learning to swim and about lifesaving / Water safety. Eddie is hoping to come along and view what we teach at our second week of Offaly Water Safety in Banagher swimming pool the date for that is starting on the 17th of July until the 21st Starting time 10am. Please come along and joing us. Thank you Eddie for you time and support. Looking forward to chatting again in Banagher.

Students wishing to apply for the Susi grant 2019/20 academic year please note the closing date is Friday 1st November 2019.

All students who still wish to apply for a student grant in academic year 2019/20 should be advised of this closing date. If a student has started an application but not yet completed it, they should do so before the closing date.

Students who wish to make an application after the online closing date must satisfy one of the following criteria.

Their course commences in 2020 prior to the end of the 2019/20 academic year.

Edenderry Municipal District

Notification - Public Consultation Day - Draft Flood Maps for Edenderry, County Offaly

RPS, who are conducting the Eastern CFRAM Study on behalf of the OPW and with the support of Offaly County Council, have produced Draft Flood Maps for Edenderry in County Offaly.

To provide an opportunity for all interested persons to view and comment on these maps, a Public Consultation Day will be held at the Town Hall, O’Connell Square, Edenderry, County Offaly from 3.00pm to 7.00pm on Thursday 19th March 2015. Members of the Eastern CFRAM Study project team will be available to discuss and explain the maps to all attending on the day and to collate any local flooding information. The Draft Flood Maps will be on display on the date stated and will also be accessible on the Study website www.eastcframstudy.ie from that date. Interested persons may provide observations on the Draft Flood Maps at the public consultation event and/or through the study website.

Roadworks are due to commence at Derreen Railway Bridge on the R420 on the Portarlingtom approach into Cloneygowan Village commencing from Tuesday the 6th May 2014 until Friday the 10th May 2014. This work will be carried out at night commencing from 7pm each night until 6am ithe morning on Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday night. The Road will be closed for this duration on each night.

Diversion Routes as follows:

All HGV ‘s will divert at Kilmalogue Cross, Portarlington via the R423 for Mountmellick via the N80 for Tullamore Town and vice versa.

Local Access will be maintained around the area.

Variable Message Boards will be erected before the weekend on both approaches to advise motorists of same over the weekend

Phase 1 of the road re-surfacing will commence after the drainage works are concluded
