Unveiling of the Waterford Civic Trust Blue Plaque today at the Coast Guard Cultural Centre. The Heritage Blue Plaque was awarded to honour the 150th anniversary of the Tramore Coast Guard Station, first opened in 1874. Between 1924 and 1988, the building served as a Garda Station. Following a fire in 2000, it was restored in 2003. It continues to be a fully functioning Coast Guard Station with a co-located Cultural Centre and Café.

*** Call Out ***
Yesterday at 13:00 our pagers were activated by MRCC to assist a member of the public who's dog had fallen down a cliff face at Hook Head, Wexford.

Our team made their way to the area via the Passage East ferry to assist Fethard-on-Sea Coast Guard with Bunmahon Coast Guard unit assisting us in the Rescue of "Ben".
All three teams were able to successfully extract Ben to safety to a very happy owner.
Ben is now safe and sound curled up at home in front of the fire if not a bit tired after his long day.

Many thanks everyone who assisted in this rescue showing fantastic inter teamwork with a great outcome.

If you think somebody is in difficulty on the coast / cliff / beach / sea then dial 112 and ask for the COAST GUARD.

In an emergency dial “999” or “112” and ask for the Coast Guard.
