Cllr. Trish Murphy Fine Gael Councillor for Kanturk Local Electoral Area

14/05/2026

I am extremely disappointed to learn of the removal of the 24-hour ATM in Newmarket. Since the closure of the AIB branch a number of years ago, this ATM operated by Brink's provided an important service for local people, businesses, older residents and visitors to the town.

Its removal without any consultation with the community is deeply frustrating and raises real concerns about access to cash and banking services in rural towns like Newmarket.

I will be following up on this matter as a priority to establish why this decision was taken and to see what can be done to restore this essential service for the community.
