Another great canvass this evening talking to the good people of Inismore, Westview, and Westgrove in Ballincollig. 💜 Lots of appetite for change. A lot of people saying they haven’t been canvassed by the other parties 🧐 We think the best way to talk about the alternative offered by is to chat with people face to face. 💜

There’ll always be one guy who didn’t get the memo about wearing a nice beanie … Can’t adequately articulate my gratitude to these legends for giving up their Sunday to canvas with me or to the residents of Muskerry, Beech Park and Church View who took the time to talk with us about their concerns and ambitions for our community. In our first month in office, the Social Democrats would sign the Optional Protocol to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) – which would allow disabled people to make complaints directly to the UN when the State fails to provide services.

We pledge to put the at the heart of our disability policy, with a focus on four key objectives:

✅A rights-based approach, which recognises the role of Disabled Persons Organisations, or DPOs
Reform in the governance and accountability of the provision of disability services
✅Implementation, enactment and commencement of key legislation and strategies to promote and protect the rights, quality of life, and independence of disabled people
✅Investment in disability inclusion
