Jerusalem Ballet Company Jerusalem Ballet | בלט ירושלים The amuta operates successfully in two spheres, its Jerusalem Ballet
and Ballet School.

The Jerusalem Ballet, under the auspices of the NPO (amuta) Advancement of Classical Dance in Jerusalem, was founded in 2004 by former Bolshoi prima ballerina Nina Timofeeva. Nina Timofeeva retired 3 years ago as the artistic director of these two bodies, and her daughter Nadia stepped in to the role. Since 2007, the Jerusalem Ballet School has been under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture

and the Culture Department of the Municipality of Jerusalem, meeting all the qualifications of a professional school. The Jerusalem Ballet’s performances “Magical Steps” and “The World of Ballet,” in Jerusalem in 2008-09, included works from the classical and neo-classical repertoire as well as contemporary choreographic works. The dancers include graduates of the Ballet School, taught by Nina and Nadia Timofeeva, as well as graduates of other schools in Israel and the Former Soviet Union. The Jerusalem Ballet has been written up in Ha’aretz, the Jerusalem Post, Vesti (Russian news), and has featured in radio shows such as the Culture Journal, the French and Russian language news broadcasts, and on TV. In 2009 the amuta was awarded support from the Jerusalem Department of Culture for two new projects, including this performance.
