On Guru Purnima i bow to my 4 Gurus whose thoughts have always guided me in my pursuit of unalloyed nationalism - Swami Pranavanand, founder of Bharat Sevashram Sangh & one of India’s greatest yogis, Shri Vasudevanand Saraswati & Shri Rang Awadhoot , 2 of the greatest Sants of the Datta order, & Rajarshi Muni who was one of the greatest practitioners of classical yoga.
1. Swami Pranavanand ( 1896-1941) opposed Cong’s pro-Muslim policies in the Gandhian era & supported Veer Savarkar & even went to jail for Hindu Mahasabha. He also supported the Bengali revolutionaries, particularly the Anshulan Samiti. He might have also influenced RSS founder Dr KB Hedgewar who studied medicine in Kolkatta.
His strength was that he created great Sants from amongst Dalits & tribals. He is known as the ultimate Sant of national integration. He was born in Kayastha caste in today’s Bangladesh.
2. Vasudevanand Saraswati ( 1954-1914) did Desh Bhraman on foot, from Dwarka to Bengal & from Hardwar to Tanjore, & did his Chaturmaas all over the country. He is considered as a Avatar of Datta Bhagwan. He was from Maharashtra’s Karhade Brahmin caste.
3. Shri Rang Awadhoot ( 1898-1968) , participated in the freedom struggle under Gandhi ji but soon disengaged & took the spiritual path. As a rule he used to do 15-day fast if a woman’s saree touched his body or when currency touched his body. He commands immense respect in Datta tradition.
When RSS Sarsanghchalak Guru Golwalkar ji went to meet him in Baroda , Rang Awadhoot made him sit on his his own Asan telling Shri Guru ji that while he himself was trying for his own Moksha, he ( Guru ji) was doing a much greater job as he was working for the upliftment of Bharat Varsha.
Rang Awadhoot was also a Brahmin from Maharashtra.
5. Rajarshi Muni ( 1931-2022) was a Jadeja Rajput whose father was ADC to the Maharaja of Porbandar. He was follower of Lord Lakulish , an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He was one of the greatest exponents of classical Yoga & had mastered 700 yoga Asanas.
