The humble initiative of sharing is targeted as a small step to bridge the income disparity and lack of accessibility to privileges among people around us. She is studying the IB curriculum at Ahmedabad International School, where she is also the Head Girl (2012-2013)
She has been aware and active in the community around her since she was a child. The idea to start ‘Share a Spare’ came to her when
she realized that sharing her belongings with the underprivileged had a ‘Multiplier effect’. It meant that if one person’s things could bring value to the lives of many more, she could compound the number of beneficiaries, by engaging a larger group of Sharers (donors). If the those who ‘Have’ can share their surplus affluence, a greater magnitude of ‘Have-nots’ will go through less hardship in their lives. In Anmol’s words, “Every person deserves equal opportunities and privileges. But, since Life is not fair, it is up to us to Share our Spare and show that we care.”
The mode of operation at Share A Spare is to collect and facilitate sharing and donation of articles of worth to relevant and deserving causes and people. Most of the sharing will be with underprivileged children studying at night schools on the footpath and municipal schools, orphans, mentally and physically challenged people, Children in Cancer wards and others who deserve. Share A Spare’s values are deeply rooted in Gandhiji’s belief that, “There is enough in this world for every man’s needs, yet not enough for one man’s greed!” and in the founder’s philosophy that, ‘if not me then who? If not now then when?’
Some examples of items that can be shared are:
==> Note-Books and Stationery like pencils, compass boxes, erasers, rulers
==> Books/ Story Books / Games / Puzzles
==> Good Clothes and Accessories
==> Music CDs/ players/ working computers or laptops
==> Raincoats/ Umbrellas/ water bottles
