Silpi Diwas was observed with due reverence at Pub Kamrup College, Baihata Chariali, commemorating the legacy of Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, a towering figure in Assamese art, literature and culture.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Diganta Kalita, Hon’ble MLA, Kamalpur, highlighted the enduring influence of Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala on Assamese society and called upon the younger generation to draw inspiration from his ideals, creativity and nationalist spirit.
Subsequently, Shri Deba Kumar Mishra, District Commissioner, Kamrup, spoke on the immense contribution of Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala to Assamese culture and identity. He stressed the need to preserve and protect his literary and artistic creations for future generations.
The programme was attended by Shri Bhabesh Kalita, Hon’ble MLA, Rangia, Shri Aditya Gogoi, Additional District Commissioner, Kamrup, Shri Bikramjit Bora, Circle Officer, Kamalpur Revenue Circle, Smti Nithee Kalita, Circle Officer (Attached), North Guwahati Revenue Circle; Shri Bhupen Kumar Sharma, Principal, Pub Kamrup College; and Shri Ajit Saloi, Assistant Professor, Vidya Bharati College, along with faculty members and students.
As part of the celebration, a singing competition on Jyoti Sangeet was organised, in which students enthusiastically participated, showcasing the enduring relevance of the maestro’s musical compositions.
