“Berry Borer” Infestation in Araku Organic Coffee – Visit of Minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani & District Collector
Malasingaram & Pakkanagudi Villages – Chinalabudu Panchayat, Araku Valley
During this visit, Hon’ble Tribal Welfare Minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani and the District Collector inspected the severe damage caused to organic coffee farms.
🗣️ On this occasion, Youth Congress President Prem Kumar raised several key questions before the Minister & Collector:
1, Why is compensation of ₹1,00,000 per acre not being granted to farmers?
2, When will a special MSP for “Araku Organic Coffee” be announced?
3, Is the government ready to pay ₹400/kg for green coffee berries?
4, When will bio-pesticides & Beauveria bassiana be supplied free or at subsidized rates?
5, When will a dedicated Coffee Research & Pest Control Centre be established in Araku?
6, Will tribal farmers be allowed to do direct marketing without middlemen?
7, What measures are being taken to protect the brand “Araku Organic Coffee” from misuse?
👉 Farmers strongly warned that without urgent action, not only their livelihoods but also the international reputation of Araku Coffee will be at stake.
