Favoritism vs. Fairness! This recommendation letter by MLA Bandipora, Nizam Ud-Din Bhat, has stirred waves of anger, disappointment, and fear among hundreds of aspiring paramedical and nursing graduates in Bandipora. The letter shamelessly recommends a list of his own relatives for continuation or engagement in outsourced positions, bypassing every norm of transparency, merit-based recruitment, or screening.

Is this even permissible under a democratic and constitutional system of public employment? Why were only his relatives chosen? Where was the public advertisement? Where were the open applications? Where was the competitive screening process? How can any deserving student across Bandipora expect a fair chance in such a deeply compromised, rigged system, where nepotism is not just tolerated, but institutionalized?

This is precisely what Nizam Ud-Din Bhat has always stood for, adjusting his relatives, kith and kin at every possible opportunity, with no shame and no regard for merit. In this particular instance, he has written directly to the Medical Superintendent of Bandipora, instructing him to adjust his own family members in outsourced posts. Out of the eight names he has recommended, all eight are his close relatives. Yes, all eight. This isn’t just a case of influence, This is a blatant, brazen abuse of power. It is corruption in daylight, unapologetic, unchecked, and completely unaccountable. And tragically, it isn’t new. This is what Nizam Ud-Din Bhat has always stood for; nepotism, favoritism, and placing his relatives above the rights of hardworking and qualified youth.

Nizam Ud-Din Bhat, as an MLA, is already notorious for orchestrating illegal backdoor appointments during his political tenure. And now, once again, he resumes the same practice, this time under the garb of influence and legacy. His letter drips with entitlement and arrogance, as if public jobs were personal property, to be distributed among his inner circle like family heirlooms. This isn’t representation. This is nothing short of betrayal. It is an open insult to every hardworking, meritorious youth who believed that education, dedication, and integrity still mattered in our system. These actions do not just damage institutions, they shatter hope, break trust, and deepen the festering wounds of discrimination and injustice.

And if this blatant mockery of justice is not questioned, condemned, and corrected, then the future of the youth of Bandipora will no longer be decided in examination halls, but in the drawing room of the MLA, with pens in their hands and no ethics in their hearts. This is exactly what MLA Bandipora is doing. He is playing with the future of our youth. And he must be held accountable.

I earnestly request Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene and take immediate, stringent action against all such illegal backdoor appointments, particularly those involving the MLA's relatives and family members. Every single individual who has been adjusted, either during the previous PDP government or under his current regime, must be terminated with one stroke. These appointments are not just unethical; they are illegal. They have been made at the cost of deserving, educated, unemployed youth from Bandipora, who were denied even a basic chance to compete, because they had no political backing, only their talent and merit.

No one, absolutely no one, should be allowed to hijack the future of our youth. The youth of Jammu and Kashmir are already reeling under the heavy burden of systemic neglect, political betrayal, and mounting mental distress. They are battling hopelessness every day, clinging to the belief that perhaps, just perhaps, hard work might still lead somewhere. To crush that last remaining hope, for the sake of nepotism, is not just a policy failure; it is a moral crime. The future of an entire generation cannot must not be sacrificed at the altar of MLA Bandipora’s entitlement and nepotism. The youth of Bandipora, deserve better. They deserve fairness. They deserve justice. They deserve the right to compete.
