With this we come to the end of SEC-6, the flagship event of SIGMA-oikos at XLRI Jamshedpur.
This year’s theme- Exploring waste Management through an Entrepreneurial Lens was a huge success among students as it provided them with an insight into the journey of waste from their dustbins and further.

Waste Management is a pertinent issue that needs to be dealt with on micro and macro level, with this conclave SIGMA-oikos wanted to create awareness and nurture young minds through the best of the industry experts. Speakers talked about how their goal has always been to create a change, they discussed and shared how to create funding for Social Initiative businesses. Discussions also revolved on Social barriers and hurdles they face and how they overcame the same.

We would like to thank everyone who helped us create this event memorable. Our Director, Dean, faculty, XLRI support staff, our esteemed speakers and the participants. It would not have been possible without you all!

Meet the Keynote Speaker for SEC-6!

Wilma Rodrigues is a former journalist who worked for several years with the Times of India group and Business World Magazine in Mumbai before she moved to Bengaluru and started NGO Saahas in 2001.

Saahas today manages 20 tonnes of waste in Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.

SIGMA-oikos has always strived to showcase the theme of the Social Entrepreneurship Conclave through the logo. So here's a trivia about the logo of SEC-6!

The diverse colors in the logo depicts the expertise brought by the entrepreneurs from different walks of life.
The *eyes* of letter 's' are for awareness towards our surroundings to build a sustainable India.
The *hands* that come together forming the letter 'o' are the significance of unity in making a impact on the society.

We would like to thank our Creatives Team for their sustained effort in designing a meaningful and memorable logo.

As per UN reports, Roughly one in five people have experienced discrimination on at least one of the grounds prohibited under international human rights law, such as ethnicity, age, s*x, disability, religion and s*xual orientation. That’s a lot! SDG 10 aims to reduce these inequalities from the roots.

We are elated to announce that Mandapati Naga Sai Asha Reddy, a Senior Executive member of the SIGMA-oikos team has become a part of the international oikos Community by being elected as a new oikos International Board Member at the Legislative Meeting on Sunday 16 October!

She is among the six amazing oikees who will be part of the Board for 2023. We are incredibly proud of her journey so far. We are confident that she will hold this responsibility with utmost passion and commitment and we wish her the very best for the same!
