painful picture has emerged from Sahibganj, Jharkhand.

Neither an ambulance nor a government vehicle could reach Sukur Mani, who was injured after falling from a roof in Jharkhand's Mandro block. The reason: even today, there's no paved road to the village, only a dangerous dirt path filled with rocks and steep slopes.

Out of helplessness, the family and villagers made a temporary stretcher from bamboo and cot, then carried the injured woman on their shoulders through the hilly path to the doctor.

This picture is not just the suffering of one woman, but the reality of those areas where even today roads, ambulances and health facilities are waiting for "development".
