As On August 11, 2025, a delegation from the Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) forum visited the office of SPD Samagra in Srinagar. The visit was decided in a WhatsApp conference call held among approximately 13 members of the SBM forum a some days prior. The call, which took place at around 8:30 pm, decided that a minimum of two members from each district would visit the SPD Samagra office to discuss matters related to SBM.
However, on the day of the visit (Today Date 11/08/2205), only representatives from three districts were present at the SPD office. The delegates who reached the office included Syed Fayaz Bukhari (Budgam), Ishfaq Ahmad Shah (Baramulla), Gulzar Ahmad (Pulwama), Farooq Ahmad (Pulwama), and Riyaz ul Haq Shah (Budgam). Ishfaq Ahmad and Farooq Ahmad left the premises after a few hours due to some issues. The remaining delegatesโSyed Fayaz Bukhari, Gulzar Ahmad, and Riyaz ul Haqโwaited to meet SPD until 4:55 pm. They met SPD in his office chamber and handed over a representation highlighting SBM concerns .
During the conversation, it was noted that SPD was not fully aware of the SBM issues. Subsequently, SPD forwarded the representation to Raj Kumar, a dealing assistant. The delegation also met Hilal Ahmad, Legal officer, and other officials in the Samagra office.
The limited representation from only three districts at the meeting has been noted as disheartening by the participants. Other districts are expected to explain their absence or why they did not send representatives to make the program successful. The SBM forum may follow up on the concerns raised during the meeting and seek further action regarding ๐
