World Environment Day 2026 Celebrations Commence in Bandipora with Enthusiastic Participation

Bandipora, June 5: The School Education Department today marked the beginning of World Environment Day 2026 celebrations with a vibrant programme held at the Government NM Boys Higher Secondary School Auditorium, Bandipora. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers and education officers, reflecting a shared commitment towards environmental protection and sustainable living.
The programme was presided over by Mr. Hakeem Tanveer Ahmad (JKAS), Joint Director North School Education Department Kashmir, who attended as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he underscored the significance of environmental conservation and urged students to become active advocates of sustainability by embracing environmentally responsible practices in their daily lives. He stressed that safeguarding natural resources is a collective responsibility and essential for securing a healthier future for coming generations.
Among the dignitaries present were Mr. Hussain Ahmad, ZEO Quilmuqam, the Principal of NM Boys Higher Secondary School Bandipora, members of the teaching fraternity and large number of students.
The event featured a range of activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and encouraging responsible environmental behaviour among young learners. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a clean, green and sustainable environment and pledged to contribute positively towards environmental preservation.
The programme provided an effective platform for sensitizing students to contemporary environmental challenges and highlighted the importance of collective action in addressing ecological concerns.
As part of the World Environment Day observance, the worthy Joint Director also participated in a plantation drive and planted saplings on the school premises, inspiring students and staff alike and boosting morale while reinforcing the message of environmental stewardship.

Worthy Joint Director (North), School Education Department Kashmir, Mr. Hakeem Tanveer Ahmad, JKAS, today visited PM Shri Government Boys High School Nowpora Kalan as part of his ongoing efforts to monitor and strengthen the educational environment in schools.
During the visit, the Joint Director took stock of the overall functioning of the institution, with particular focus on teaching-learning processes and academic issues. He interacted with members of the teaching staff and students to gain firsthand insight into the challenges and requirements of the school.
Worthy JD emphasized the importance of quality education, effective classroom practices and student-centric learning. He also reviewed various academic and administrative aspects of the school.

*DSEK,Sgr, May 21:* The Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Mr. Naseer Ahmad Wani, has announced that Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) will be held across all schools in the Kashmir Valley on May 22, 2026.

The Director stated that as per the academic calendar issued by the department, PTMs are ordinarily conducted on the 26th of every month. However, in view of the forthcoming Eid-ul-Adha, it has been decided to advance the meetings to May 22 to ensure smooth participation of stakeholders.

Mr. Wani has directed all school heads to ensure maximum participation of parents in these meetings and to make them meaningful and outcome-oriented. He emphasized that the meetings should focus not only on the academic progress and overall performance of students but also on addressing key social concerns.

In particular, the Director urged school authorities to sensitise parents about the ongoing drug de-addiction campaign in Jammu and Kashmir and seek their active cooperation in safeguarding the younger generation from substance abuse.

Appealing to parents, Mr. Wani requested them to actively participate in the PTMs and share their valuable feedback and suggestions for the betterment of the education system.

The Directorate reiterated its commitment to strengthening school-parent collaboration to enhance the quality of education and ensure the holistic development of students.

Worthy Joint Director North, School Education Department Kashmir, Mr. Hakeem Tanveer Ahmad, JKAS, today visited Government Higher Secondary School Gingal Uri and Primary School Gingal.
During the visit, he interacted with students, teaching staff and other stakeholders to review the overall functioning of the institutions. He emphasized the importance of quality education, discipline, and a student-friendly learning environment and issued necessary instructions for the smooth academic functioning of the schools.
The Joint Director appreciated the dedicated efforts of the staff members in efficiently managing the huge enrollment of students and maintaining academic activities in a commendable manner.
He also reviewed the ongoing construction work of two buildings currently under process at Higher Secondary School Gingal and stressed upon maintaining quality standards and timely completion of the projects.
Various developmental and academic matters concerning the future progress of the institutions were also discussed during the visit, with a focus on further strengthening the educational standards and infrastructure.
