As part of the continuous efforts to bring eligible rural households under the fold of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), one more new Self-Help Group (SHG) was successfully formed at Sangkhola Ward under Beyong Phegyong GPU on 29th May 2026.
The SHG formation programme was conducted in the presence of officials from the Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) and the Secretary of the Block Development Society (BDS), Martam,Mrs Lakpa Doma Tamang, During the interaction, the participants were sensitized on the objectives and benefits of SHGs, including savings and credit practices, financial inclusion, livelihood enhancement, women’s empowerment, and collective community development.

The officials highlighted the importance of SHGs as a platform for socio-economic transformation and encouraged the newly enrolled members to actively participate in group activities and avail themselves of the various opportunities provided under NRLM. The members expressed their willingness to work collectively towards improving their livelihoods and strengthening their economic resilience.

The formation of this new SHG marks another significant step towards achieving the vision of NRLM in empowering rural women and ensuring inclusive development at the grassroots level. The initiative is expected to strengthen community institutions and promote sustainable livelihood opportunities for women in the area.

Yesterday dated: 28/05/2026, New SHG was formed at Chuba Ward, where BMMU Martam was able to bring the left-out households into the NRLM fold. The vision of NRLM is to empower women and strengthen their role in society.

A homemaker woman can bring positive change not only within her household but also in society when she becomes connected through the SHG system.

SHG formation program was conducted in the gracious presence of Honourable Chairperson of PHE Department, Mrs. Chumila Bhutia, along with BMMU officials.

Welcome to all the new members into the NRLM fold.

Training of Trainers (TOT) on Individual Enterprises Finance Loan Application (IELA) for SRLM staff of all 34 blocks of Sikkim was organised by the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Guwahati in collaboration with the State Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj at SIRD-PR, Sikkim from 11th–13th May 2026. In this training Block Project Manager (BPM) underwent the 3 days Training program.

The training sessions covered various important topics such as the 5 A’s – five types of assets that support Individual Enterprises, financial concepts, working capital, and different kinds of loans. The programme also included practical demonstrations on SHG details, members’ information, documents required for Individual Enterprises Finance Loan, financial statements of entrepreneurs, income and expenditure analysis, business margin comprising product sales and purchases, and balance sheet preparation of entrepreneurs.

A live entry session of Individual Loan Application through the Bank Loan LokOS application was also demonstrated during the training programme.

The training sessions were facilitated by National Resource Persons (NRPs) Tilak Das and Pratyaya Jaganath and support by Y Atan from NIRD Guwahati along With Financial Inclusion team from SMMU, SRLM RDD, Government of Sikkim.

During the valedictory programme, Mrs Savitri Thakur, Honourable Union Minister of State, Women and Child Development Department, Government of India, graced the occasion and distributed training certificates to the trainees.

Yesterday dated 16/05/2026, on the auspicious occasion of Statehood Day of Sikkim, BMMU Martam, SRLM-RDD successfully formed a new SHG at Zingla Masa Ward with a strength of 10 members.
BMMU Martam warmly welcomes the new SHG into the folds of NRLM and wishes the group great success, unity, and empowerment in the days to come.

On dated 8th May 2026, BDS Martam organised its monthly meeting at BAC Martam Auditorium Hall in the presence of BDS Office Bearers, BDS EC members, community cadres of Martam Block, WRP & BRP of respective thematics, along with officials from BMMU Martam under Martam SRLM-RDD.

The meeting commenced with a welcome note delivered by Ms. Sarda Chettri, WRP of Tshalamthang Ward, followed by condolence prayers in memory of Late Mrs. Sweata Karki, DPM Livelihood, SMMU.

During the meeting, Yangthang WDS President Mrs. Sita Sharma delivered a short speech highlighting the glorious 50 years of Sikkim Statehood and the historic visit of the Honourable Prime Minister of India during the Statehood Closing Ceremony.

Mrs. Rup Maya Sharma, an AGEY beneficiary, shared details regarding the AGEY vehicle scheme and loan repayment status during the meeting.
Various key activities and developmental agendas of the block were discussed. WRP and BRP were instructed to work as per the guidelines of SRLM-RDD and to submit their monthly reports to BMMU Martam on time.

MISO Martam highlighted the importance of BDS meetings, regular attendance of Office Bearers and EC members, and the strengthening of BDS Martam in the days ahead.

The Block Project Manager emphasized the importance of:
• PMFME Seed Capital
• Monthly thematic cadre work
• Timely uploading of Lakhpati Didi data in Lokos application.
• Identification of new Lakhpati Didi's at ward level and onboarding into Lokos application.
• Upcoming SHG Audit and its schedule.
• Monthly MPR data submission and its importance.
• Formation of a new WDS at Aley Ward under Samlick Marchak GPU.

PMFME Seed Capital support for respective WDSs was also discussed during the meeting. Furthermore, BDS Martam successfully released the CIF loan to Martam WDS.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Lakpa Doma Tamang, BDS Secretary and host of the meeting.
