🇮🇳 Budgam Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Grandeur, Patriotism and Pride

Tricolour Soars High as Budgam Marks 80th Independence Day with Enthusiasm and Fervour

Budgam, August 15:District Budgam celebrated the 80th Independence Day with immense patriotic fervour, enthusiasm and national pride across the district. The main district-level function was organised at Sports Stadium Budgam, where Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan IAS, hoisted the National Flag amidst a vibrant gathering and patriotic atmosphere.
SSP Budgam, Hariprasad KK, was also present on the occasion, along with ADCs, ADDCs, SDMs, Chief Education Officer, District Youth Services & Sports Officer and other senior district officers and officials.
The celebrations witnessed an impressive march-past by participating contingents, showcasing discipline, coordination and dedication. The event was further enriched by colourful and captivating cultural programmes presented by school students, who beautifully showcased the rich cultural heritage, diversity and patriotic spirit of the nation.
Independence Day celebrations were simultaneously organised at various locations across District Budgam, with enthusiastic participation from students, government employees and the general public. The celebrations reflected the collective spirit of unity, patriotism, peace and commitment towards nation-building.
The programme culminated with an appreciation certificate and felicitation ceremony, where individuals and teams were recognised for their commendable contributions, dedicated services and active participation in various activities and programmes. The felicitation served as a gesture of appreciation and encouragement for those working towards the development and progress of the district.
The grand celebrations concluded on a high note, with the Tricolour flying proudly and the spirit of patriotism resonating across Budgam.

Inter-Zonal Basketball Championship and Girls' Cricket Trials Witness Enthusiastic Participation in Budgam
Budgam, August 6: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Budgam on Wednesday successfully organized the Inter-Zonal District Level Basketball Championship for Boys (Under all Age Groups) at Boys Higher Secondary School Chadoora, while Inter-Zonal District Level Selection Trials for Girls Under-17 Cricket were held simultaneously at Sports Stadium Budgam.
The basketball championship was inaugurated by Sheikh Mushtaq, Principal, Boys Higher Secondary School Chadoora, in the presence of Ghulam Hassan Khanday, Activity Incharge, DYSSO Budgam, along with other field officials. The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with a large number of young basketball players from different zones of the district participating with remarkable enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit.
At the same time, the Girls Under-17 Inter-Zonal District Level Cricket Selection Trials were conducted at Sports Stadium Budgam. Talented cricketers representing all zones of District Budgam participated enthusiastically, displaying their skills and determination to earn selection for the district team.
Both events were organized under the directions of Director General, Youth Services & Sports J&K, Ms. Anuradha Gupta, JKAS, and under the supervision of District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO) Budgam, Mr. Jai Pal Singh.
The Department reiterated its commitment to providing quality sporting opportunities, identifying promising talent, and encouraging greater participation in sports across the district. The successful conduct of both events reflected the department's continued efforts to promote a vibrant sporting culture among the youth of Budgam.
