Block, Cachar, registered under The Biological Diversity Act 2002. Purpose of NABMC is to promote conservation, sustainable use and documentation of biological diversity and chronicling of knowledge relating to biological diversity. We are working under Assam State Biodiversity Board (Guwahati) & National Biodiversity Authority (Chennai).

New species of tree frog discovered in Western Ghats.
A new species of tree frog was discovered and another species of bush frog was rediscovered by a team of researchers during their recent exploration in the Western Ghats - Ghatixalus magnus (left) and Raorchestes flaviventris (right)
The discovery, published in the latest issue of International Taxonomic JournalZootaxa, is a joint effort by a team comprised Robin Abraham, a researcher from the University of Kansas, USA; Anil Zachariah, a batrachologist from Wayanad and Vivek Philip Cyriac, a researcher, of theIndian Institute of Science Education and Research, Thiruvananthapuram.

Invasive species can dramatically alter landscapes: Study
Researchers from Purdue University and the University of Kentucky found that Invasive plant and animal species can cause dramatic and enduring changes to the geography and ecology of landscapes in myriad ways and with varying degrees of severity.
Study author Songlin Fei, associate professor of quantitative ecology, said, "Invaders can change a landscape in long-lasting ways. If we do not keep an eye on them, they could cause serious problems that can have impacts for decades or centuries."
