Few glimpse of 1st day of 63rd Convocation of IARI ICAR
The 63rd Convocation of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI) commenced on March 17, 2025, at the Pusa Campus in New Delhi. The event began with postgraduate students presenting their research findings, competing for the IARI Merit Medals and the prestigious Best Student of the Year Award.

Kalanamak rice, often referred to as "Buddha rice," is a traditional variety known for its black husk and strong fragrance. It is predominantly cultivated in the Terai region of northeastern Uttar Pradesh, India, and parts of Nepal. Historically, this variety has been prone to lodging—a condition where plants fall over due to weak stems—resulting in reduced yields.

To address this issue, the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) developed two dwarf varieties: Pusa Narendra Kalanamak 1638 and Pusa Narendra Kalanamak 1652. These variants are shorter in stature, reducing the risk of lodging and effectively doubling the yield compared to traditional strains.

For farmers interested in cultivating these improved varieties, seeds are available through various suppliers:

Agrikendra: Offers Kala Namak Pusa Narendra Paddy Seeds in 1 kg packages.

Villkart: Provides Kala Namak Paddy Seeds, including the Pusa Narendra Kalanamak 1638 variety.

पूसा कृषि विज्ञान मेला 2025 का आयोजन भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान संस्थान (IARI) द्वारा 22 से 24 फरवरी 2025 तक नई दिल्ली के पूसा परिसर में किया जा रहा है। इस वर्ष मेले का मुख्य विषय "उन्नत कृषि – विकसित भारत" है, जो नवीन कृषि प्रथाओं के माध्यम से राष्ट्रीय प्रगति पर जोर देता है।

मेले के मुख्य आकर्षणों में IARI द्वारा विकसित नई किस्मों और तकनीकों का जीवंत प्रदर्शन, विभिन्न संस्थानों, कृषि विश्वविद्यालयों, किसान उत्पादक संगठनों, उद्यमियों, स्टार्ट-अप्स, सार्वजनिक और निजी कंपनियों द्वारा प्रदर्शनी, तकनीकी सत्र, किसान-वैज्ञानिक संवाद, प्रमुख फसलों के पूसा बीजों की बिक्री, और ऑन-स्पॉट कृषि परामर्श शामिल हैं।

इस तीन दिवसीय मेले में देशभर से हजारों किसान, शोधकर्ता और उद्योग से जुड़े लोग भाग ले रहे हैं, जो उन्नत कृषि तकनीकों और सतत कृषि प्रणाली की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है।
